What Guests Say About Their Stay

Clare

We liked the quiet tranquility most of the time though occasionally noisy with officials having parties. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. We liked the room with private outside area. We liked the infinity pool. We were surprised that there was a poor selection of fruit available at breakfast but otherwise it was a good spread. We were impressed with our spa experience and felt totally relaxed afterwards. The green taxi drivers’outside were very friendly and reasonable priced too and took us to Sengambia strip for the evenings for around £4 return. Overall a fantastic relaxed holiday.

What an amazing property. Set in a serene location secluded and with the most picturesque beach and two pools. Stay in a beach villa if you can. The hospitality of the Gambian people is amazing!

The setting of this hotel is perfect, situated on the beach with green and well maintained gardens. The spa was fantastic too but the best feature of this hotel is the staff; they were invariably friendly, helpful and accommodating!

This hotel seriously needs millions spent on it, its shabby & lifeless. The pool areas are basic with rusty sun bed are torn & split! The private pool you have as a club guest is very small, just didnt look clean with floor tiles so old & dirty looking (wish id taken pics) cracks in tiles, the other pool is tiny looks nothing like hotel pics its also mainly shaded by the tall palms. We had a club villa which could have been lovely. They are small, very very dated, smelt like toilet, the mirror in bathroom had a giant crack in it & the shower old fashioned & dribbled out. The yellow curtains were dirty & stained. We were staying at another hotel & i booked this for one night for our anniversary as we had debated staying at this hotel before booking. (Thank goodness we never booked this for our entire trip) We ended up leaving after 2 hours & i lost any money paid but there was just no way we could stay there. The management were disinterested in what i had to say, the only helpful person was a lady at guest relations but management offered no apology, no room change or refund. To be honest even with a room change we wouldnt of stayed. This is barely a 2 star its just horrible weve been to the gambia a few times so don't expect high end luxury but this was beyond terrible. Cant comment on food & drinks as we didnt stay long enough, when we arrived people where still having breakfast & it was empty & quiet the buildings again old & shabby.

The room was not what was expected for the amount of money they charge per night. The staff were okay. They also refuse to accommodate simple request. I will not go back again. Will look for other hotel in the area. No iron in the room, hot water was a problem. Room was not clean. Hotel rooms need renovation.

Shabby and disgusting hotel that says it’s “5 star” and charges accordingly. Complete waste of money. Absolutely do not book a higher end room here, as literally all you get is more space. The club villa rooms have 7 doors to lock- 6 of which are slide balcony doors that are in such bad condition they all cannot be locked. There is no privacy, and absolutely no “partial ocean views” like their website claims. All false advertising. The service at the restaurant is admitted great and the staff really tries- but anything promised by the night front desk is not followed through with the morning manager. Said no problem to pay extra for a late check out, then day of they say they are overbooked by 8 rooms, despite booking websites all stating there are 24 rooms still available. Oh they did say we could “extend our stay by a few days instead of late check out” though which makes complete sense after they just said they were overbooked. Simple extortions. Last note- the first two club villa we were given had combinations of urine stains all over the sheets, no soap, no mosquito net, bugs everywhere including the bed, and no water. Also the wifi is weak, intermittent, and consistently kicks you off. And beware there is no fitness room at this “5 star resort.” Complete sham of a place. Go anywhere else and so not pay the European prices for this dilapidated hotel.
