Fabulous location and incredible views of the Bosporus. Personalized service and a friendly, helpful and caring staff whose warm greetings always made me feel at home. Even though I had a problem with booking ( “no refunds” —- I had made an error on my arrival day) I was more than happy to return after a five-day excursion to Cappadocia. General Manager Ali was available in person and by text for any question or concern. I enjoyed the rooftop restaurant. And the staff there accommodated my special requests. (Restaurant service was a bit slow, but I was not in a rush. Vacation! The meals were delicious and always beautifully plated, and presented with style)

The staff are so kind and hospitable. I did not take his name. He is a handsome young man at the front desk on November 8. He was extremely polite & helpful. He went the extra mile to answer my questions. Now, my original reservation at a different hotel was canceled for some reason. So I walked to a second hotel next door, and the man at the front desk was also kind & helped me find a room in Golden City Hotel. The impression I get in my interactions with the locals is just wonderful. Hospitable, soft spoken & kind. This may be their culture, but as far as Golden City Hotel is concerned, I am grateful for my experience there. One last thing, the breakfast on the top floor, gives a spectacular view.

I stayed at this hotel in 2012 and would say it was better then. The breakfast was better then. The air conditioning in our room was not cold enough even set at 16 degrees. The mattresses in the rooms where not the most comfortable and far too soft. The room window would not close tightly and hence could hear the traffic all night long. The rooms were clean, showers were also good, however in some of the other rooms my party stayed in the shower cubicles were tiny. Front reception staff were nice, Ilker and Mahmud. Staff at breakfast time were not very friendly either. Best thing about this hotel is the view from the roof restaurant area, overlooking the city.

Dreadful hotel. Unfriendly reception staff. Small dated room. Aircon didn’t work. Unsafe and inconvenient master card activated light switch in room. Breakfast basic and coffee machine non-functioning. No facilities whatsoever. Reception area like a funeral parlour. Booked for 5 nights and checked out after the first night. Management not remotely interested in why we were checking out and refused to refund for any of the unused nights. Do NOT stay here. There are plenty of alternatives. Try the Momento Golden Horn hotel instead. Far superior in every respect and similarly priced.

My stay at this hotel was a terrible experience from start to finish. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful, setting a poor tone from the beginning. I had to switch rooms twice due to the first two being infested with flies, and while the third room had fewer flies, it was still unacceptable. To make matters worse, the entrance to the back 'new' building had an overpowering stench, reminiscent of dead animals, which was both unsettling and disgusting. The only positive aspects of my stay were the bellboy and housekeeping staff, who were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, their kindness couldn't make up for the numerous issues. I would never stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Istanbul Golden City Hotel. They free upgraded our room with Bosphorus sea view on a higher floor because it was my birthday! The breakfast option was marvelous at the rooftop Restaurant. Enjoyed the magnificent city view with morning coffee. Only critic would be we saw someone ordered omelet for breakfast but when we asked for it they said it would be extra charge. The hot breakfast was included in our stay so that was a tad confusing.

We had a great time. There were details that could use some improvement (the room cleaning was just good enough, the sink was slow to drain). The breakfast buffet was good. The location was perfect! The staff were helpful and nice. Overall very satisfied and would return.
