A hotel that actually delivers on its promise
I booked Astra Opera to celebrate my 50th birthday with my wife, and I’ll just say it upfront: this place exceeded every expectation I had.
From the moment we arrived, the staff set the tone. Genuinely attentive — not the performative kind you get at places trying too hard — just people who clearly care about making your stay good. When they offered us a room upgrade with a private balcony and a proper Parisian view, I thought it was a nice gesture. Turns out it became the best part of waking up every morning.
The amenities are ridiculous in the best sense. Free minibar. An open bar with hot and cold drinks available all day. Cakes, cookies, savory bites — just there, whenever you want them. An indoor spa with a pool and sauna. These aren’t things you expect to be included; you expect to find a fee attached to each of them. There wasn’t.
Breakfast was excellent too — not an afterthought, actually excellent.
Here’s the thing: there are plenty of hotels in Paris that sell you on atmosphere and deliver a letdown. Astra Opera is the opposite. It overdelivers on everything it promises, quietly and without making a fuss about it. It’s not hard to understand why it sits at #1 on hotels lists. We’ll be back.
