Good snorkeling on property. Room outdated and musty smelling

Although their website said WiFi for 4 devices we had to fight to get that. Twice it was lost and we had to get new passwords. Asked us to come to the front desk. We were always left wondering if we would have a face cloth or hand towel each day. They would bring us one, but just replace what you take out.

We really enjoy staying at El Cid/La Ceiba in Cozumel. Have been staying there since 2001 almost every year. Staff is always friendly and helpful, food is great and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. We have stayed at a few other places throughout the years, but no one else makes us feel like we’re home when we bisit Cozumel.

When we went to check in we were told that we were being sent to another hotel because the room we had booked had broken pipes or something (lost in translation). The other hotel was ok but we did not get the ocean view we booked and had to rent another taxi to get to our excursion the next day which we would have just walked to. The staff was nice but it was inconvenient and cost us another ride.

The views and outdoor amenities are awesome. The room is rather bland and dated but still has great views.

The hotel staff accommodated our request to put us in the north section of the hotel. We visit often and they remember us and make us feel at home. This property is very convenient for us to get to Marina Fonatur

Basically its an old hotel on the water at a very fair price. The staff is great, the food is fine and drinks are not pricey. It's not the Hyatt but spend your money on other things! I will be staying there again in the fall.

Property was nice, had issues with the whole all inclusive thing since apparently that is a separate charge. Close to many shopping options but they only seemed to open on the days that the cruise ships docked.

I have been going to El Cid consecutively for some time now. Booking with Expedia sucked because I thought I selected the All Inclusive which is what I searched but apparently Expedia just generated everything. It wasn’t until I was informed at the hotel that they said it had to have All Inclusive in the listing and of course no refunds. Guess my fault for not noticing. I had previously stayed 4 weeks earlier with the all inclusive and paid only $175. My booking this time was $121 so I asked if they could just upgrade me to the price I had paid before since it was an accident I meant to book the All Inclusive. They then tried to tell me it would be an additional $180 plus taxes for myself and a guest. 4 weeks earlier was $175 and now it’s $300. So decided it wasn’t worth it. Then to top it all off, my guest left a ring in the room with tremendous sentimental value. She called a few hours after checkout to see if they found it (which it was left in an obvious spot) and was informed nobody from house cleaning found anything. I highly highly doubt that is true but what can we do. Needless to say I will not be back and everyone I work with in the cruise industry I will inform to avoid this place at all costs.
