Great hotel and food choice in the main restaurant

Our experience at Porto Mare was amazing. Upon our arrival we got an upgrade of our room. We got a beautiful suite overlooking the pool and gardens, which are beautifully maintained. Breakfast was great and dinner options were great too, and you also have the board walk behind the hotel, offering great food and drinks, with outstanding views.

Beautiful place! Staff was professional and friendly. The amenities were great. Would highly recommend this hotel/resort for you and your family.

Location: Well situated for an easy 2km walk to old town. Great views from water facing rooms. Hotel: Large resort with great amenities and restaurants. Very quiet for a large property. Room: Had a sea view room with large balcony so very nice. Clean and quiet room. Staff: Very nice and helpful. I would certainly stay again.

Great spacious room on 5th floor with incredible views. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Location also great.

The hotel facilities and staff were very nice. Our room was clean, the view was fantastic and the breakfast buffet was an excellent way to start our day.

We love Porto Mare and have stayed a few times before. The facilities are great and the staff are very welcoming! The breakfast buffet is the BEST! This time we bought the three dinners at Atlantida restaurant, all of which we fab but the fish and seafood night was the highlight! Our room was clean and had a lovely view over the gardens We’ll be back in 2026 :)

All staff were very helpful and welcoming. Hotel grounds were very well maintained as well as our room.

Just a lovely relaxing hotel with wonderful gardens

The hotel and staff were wonderful. We will definitely be returning for another stay ☺️

Lovely hotel and food. Live entertainment in bars v good. Staff overall excellent and friendly with exception of some of the breakfast waiters who seemed angry to be on service and observed being quite rude to some people. Other staff faultless. Room we stayed in was terrific. Convenient taxi rank and bus stops incl tourist buses right outside hotel.

The hotel is fantastic and we ate in the Italian and Portuguese restaurants. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Room was great and the hotel picked up from the passports that it was my wife’s birthday and left some bubbles for us when we returned from a Levada walk. Turn left out of hotel and walk 20 mins and some great restaurants got to try Bistrot Des Agnes. Turn right and 25 mins walk into Funchal. We’re coming back and will definitely stay at Porto Mare again

Clean room, excellent facilities

Well presented clean & comfortable hotel with good facilities - particularly the pools - and beautiful gardens overlooking the Atlantic. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice and 5-6pm Happy Hour is a winner. Overall the staff were so helpful & friendly (just don’t mess with the breakfast team!!).

What an amazing property. This hotel was one of my favorites throughout our family trip of 10 days around Portugal and Madeira. We were given a suite with pool and ocean view. The rooms were spotless clean, comfortable beds with fluffy pillows. One of the best breakfast buffets we have experienced. The staff was very friendly and professional. Located near restaurants, natural pool, shopping mall. Highly recommend to stay at Porto Mare Bayport when visiting Funchal.
