We arrived around 22.30 as our flight was delayed & security took over an hour to get through. We took the wrong road and ended up in steep narrow lanes. Once we arrived we were so happy with our room. Very clean and had everything we needed. A great nights sleep & a good breakfast. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer as we had booked a property in Ponte do Sol. A great hotel. Thank you

Excellent breakfast

Lovely breakfast, indoor pool and sauna are great for colder months and rainy days. Rooms and hotel furnishings are very tasteful and pleasant. Dinner options are very good. Good base for walks and perfect for golf. Staff is sometimes hard to find, renovations were ongoing and it would have been nice to know about that upfront. Overall

Hotel is aging and not the best upkeep. The real issue is the staff that are rude. Whilst we were there, there was renovation and drilling in front of our door from 9:30 and they created water damage in one of the common rooms downstairs so we were unable to use it. After the first day. For this they made a gesture. However, overall experience was definitely not up to standard.

Quiet,relaxing, and delicious breakfast. Rental car best way to explore Maderia. Note: existing hotel lot is a one way left turn only. Hotel needs to clear shrubs to see on-coming cars easer.

Very helpful staff. Excellent food and service. Nice happy hour. Poncha cocktail was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel.

Tropical environments

Staff were nice and tried to please but service was slow. Difficult to get staff attention in the restaurant. The hotel was nice but the area was quite desolate. Very limited options for eating (1 village diner, and a couple of bars) The golf nearby was excellent and the pick up service was helpful. We didn’t have a hire car and getting around was hard. We really relied on the pick ups for the guided Levada walks

There's nothing special to do in the mountain area and the morning is pretty cloudy without view, also there's no view from the room. I expected to have better aroma in the room and in the pool and lobby area. The bad was soft and comfortable, the bath kit was nice, and the breakfast was good.

It was close to the airport

Great value. Property is 15 min drive to Funchal and centrally located of renting a car on Madeira. Beware parking is limited on the property.

Arrived at midnight after a long journey to a helpful smiling face. Most comfortable beds. Lovely and peaceful and quiet. Allowed an extended room check out. Good exercise/swimming pool . Lovely gardens Top marks in every way!

Lovely small hotel very friendly and the food was very good

The staff at the hotel was absolutely amazing, so friendly and helpful, especially Marília.

Room 301 in the main house is a lovely room with Juliet balcony and separate large outdoor terrace. The room is spacious with two armchairs and very comfortable bed. This would have been a top-notch five-star rating had it not been for the invasion of a few thousand ants. It took me and the horrified housekeeping staff an hour to clean them from a bag and the chair it was on. The dismissive response from the front desk was "oh yes, they come in when it rains."

I spent two days in the hotel. Considerations: 1.Sauna not working and No instruction on how make it work,só instructions could improve. 2. massage need to be booked 24h in advance, which is fine but sometimes you just need in the next few hours which would be nice 3. Smell of the aromatic essences could be more neutral - the smell was bothering so much that made me wake up several times on the first night until I get used to it. Honestly, it shouldn’t be needed those kind of aromas 4. Noise, the guest on the next room was sick and sneezing the whole second night, the room should have acoustics treatment 5. They do not provide conditioner, I would expect that from a 4 star hotel - so bring your own 6. Breakfast. Could be much better, specially the juices, they could be fresh and not box. Coffee is very week, so on the second night I decided to order something else instead of having their filtered coffee. 6. Croissant and pain au chocolate should be fresh, Food options could be more authentic and explore the Portuguese coiousine it is fine to have French or English breakfast if they are well made, the pastel de nata was delicious. I would recommend they order authentic things from a padaria (cassetinho for instance)

A friendly hotel in the hills of Madeira, a 15 minute drive from the airport. Quiet, relaxing, good breakfast, the restaurant serves excellent (simple) dinners, the old block is lovely.

Lovely hotel, nice room. Good breakfast. No air conditioning in the room so would have been good to have had a fan.

Cosy hotel, amazing room, friendly staff very homely.

Lovely hotel. Quite expected Miss Marple to appear round the corner, has that vintage charm yet with great modern facilities. Loved it!
