Check in was fine. Room was small, significant mould in the shower recess. Shower was small. No coffee or tea making facilities. No fridge. No restaurant. Does have a lift. Small balcony to our room which was a bonus but, the balcony door did not lock. Decor was a op. Shop. No useable power point to charge phones, camera batteries etc. nearly all cheap take away food shops nearby and plenty of well patronised bars. No restaurants close by. Air-conditioner in the room was new and worked well. Bedding was satisfactory.

The best thing about this hotel is the location and the cheap price! The photos look good but in reality, the rooms are tired and tatty. They have tried to paint everything with brown emulsion but it’s all peeling off. All the staff where nice and happy looking.

Nimes is a great place with most interesting attractions. We were comfortable and glad the curtains blocked the hot afternoon sun. Towels are almost threadbare and need replacing.

Hotel was in a nice location....walking distance to all. Cathedral right in front of it. Restaurants all around. Clean and safe. Mattress too soft for me.

Hotel was really quite basic, with some interesting design choices. But it was clean and the water, air-con and toilet worked perfectly well and there was a couple of English channels to pay in the background and keep up with the news. It is a small city so location is not a problem. Hiccup was that I arrived a few hours before the 2pm check-in time although they were able to have a room ready in about an hour. I went to the food market down the road and when I returned, the room was ready. One negative of the room was that it faced a wall so there wasn't much natural light coming in. Pin code at the door to get in so people cannot easily just wander in.

the hotel tried to charge me twice, one prepaid from my credit card, another when you check-out. it was a good try.many small hotels do that trick. therefore make sure you alwasy bring your credit card statement with you.it is the most important thing to protect youself from these people

Stayed just for the one night passing through nimes. This hotel is right in the middle of town, so handy for wandering about. Rooms clean and tidy. Beds were comfy, bathroom/shower all good. Lots of complimentary towels, shampoos, slippers, sweets etc. If your looking for somewhere to sleep and not looking for 5 star you could do a lot worse

Don't plan on staying here if you don't speak French. Hotel is really dated. And rooms are really small

It was hard to find. Then the hotel left the building at 9 pm till morning. Even with the elevator you still had steps to go up and down. Rooms were cramped and dirty. Another guest described it as a tired hotel I think that's being to nice

Our superior room was closer to a suite than it was to a room. We had a bedroom, a living room, each with a TV; a hallway with closets and a large bathroom with a real soak-until-you-are-wrinkled deep tub. The breakfast was above average and provided a toaster and a gourmet coffee station. The only downside was the internet connection. It was only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. We could not access it from our notepad (and had no problems of this nature elsewhere in France). Fortunately there was an internet cafe two blocks from the hotel. All in all we were very pleased with this hotel.

Positives: - Clean room - very close to the town centre, you can easily walk around the main attractions from here - comfy bed and quiet room, not too hot either, air con is a plus! - cheap!.......Negatives: - Very tired and dated, hasn't been refurbished in a long while, decor is very tired. - not everything works well in the rooms. For example, the electricity blew on one night and it took hours to fix. - the tap on the bath didn't work so I had to fill the bath by taking the shower head off and filling it like that. - only a few members of staff speak good English, so not a massive negative but just bear this in mind.

I just had one night in Nimes for business on a small budget. The Empire was good value for money and I particularly enjoyed the breakfast in the brights street level restaurant. Free wireless, simple but adequate rooms, good value for money and an excellent city centre location
