The hotel was excellent and food great we will be coming back

Our stay was excellent. Staff very friendly, service, couldn’t fault. All in all a very enjoyable trip and will return when next in the area

The hotel was really nice, clean and comfortable. The only thing we found was the restaurant was very over priced and had very limited selection of food. The staff were very friendly and did go out of their way to accommodate our food needs though.

Lovely king sized room with en-suite. Good to have a later check out at 11am. Good choice of breakfast.

After a bit of a shaky start, which, to be fair was outside the staff's control, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The George. We were staying there in order to check its potential as guest accommodation for guests attending our daughter's wedding in 2026. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts and evening meals were delicious.

Great room and a lovely breakfast

Helpful staff, exceedingly comfy room. Above a popular little pub but no noise.

The food and service in the restaurant was great. However I was really disappointed with the condition of the room - the bathroom in particular was really shabby and the tiles were dirty. There was also a really long wait when we first arrived at the hotel to check-in. The pub and restaurant were both busy, so a short delay was understandable, but we were waiting nearly 15 minutes. For £120 a night, it did not offer good value.

Lively Georgian pub, excellent dining and nothing too much trouble for a friendly and helpful staff. Despite lively bar the bedroom was quiet if a little warm even with heating off. I am partially sighted and the lighting throughout was far too "subdued" - the only fault.

Very comfortable stay in a lovely old building overlooking the square. I would definitely recommend and we hope to visit again soon.

Top quality hotel - the pub and dining room were extremely busy, but the service and food for both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Room was immaculate too. Recommended!

The room was spacious with comfortable beds. It was clean with a good shower and sufficient storage. The free parking was good. However, the rooms weren’t sound proofed. We could hear those in the room next door. Also the room was close to the kitchen and were woken up early on the Sunday morning. Dinner was good but breakfast was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and the bacon was hard.

Omg it’s a 5 star diamond venue i randomly found ! The food is awesome and a total refurb of bedrooms and dining room ! Just amazing with the outstanding beauty of North Yorkshire the views are amazing and such Clean air ! Everyone is so friendly and helpful unlike where I live down south ! We WILL be back thank you for a fantastic stay ❤️

Rooms were nice and spacious, basic but good facilities, bathroom could do with some updating but otherwise good! Breakfast was lovely, good options and service

Lovely hotel in a great village location. Very much a quaint hotel but the cleaning of the room could have been better. The bathroom let the room down and it needed some decoration doing to it.

Very nice hotel. Our room was attractive and comfortable. We found it a little hot but the fan helped. There was a good big bath and shower in a roomy bathroom. The staff were friendly and approachable and we felt very welcome. The pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere. We had a lovely meal in the bar - excellent quality and very tasty. Breakfast was also of a high standard. Easy to park nearby. Would definitely stay here again.
