I cannot recommend Muthu Raga Madeira Hotel highly enough! My recent stay was absolutely beautiful - the atmosphere, the service, and the attention to detail were great. However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the leadership. A special thank to the General Manager Ricardo Rodrigues and his team, who went completely above and beyond to help me with a personal matter after I had already checked out. It is rare to find such genuine care and professional integrity. If you want a stay where you are truly looked after, this is the place to be!

I enjoyed my stay at the Muthu hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was modern enough for this class of hotel and the breakfast buffet was excellent even for a vegan. There were some nice unexpected touches like a bottle of wine on the house on my birthday (shows that they check passports) and a glass of Madeira wine and a slice of Madeira cake prior to check out. If I’m ever in Funchal again, I will definitely stay there.

On a positive note... The Hotel is perched on a hill in the Lido area with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean esp if you sit on the Mezzanine floor overlooking the pool. My apartments was very reasonable with a small balcony with a mountain View and nicely decorated with some feature walls in a rouge pain effect and nice artwork above the tv. It would have been good to include details of what tv channels are available with the Guest book including English speaking channels. Please be aware that if you stay in a mountain View room three may be some construction work taking place around 9am onwards however rhus did not affect my stay too much. A welcome bonus was having a mini fridge although it defrosts including the ice box upon removing the key card from the control panel on wall. Now for the negatives or things that could be improved. There was no kettle nor cups to make a drink. I asked at Reception Twice fir a kettle and was assured by Innes the young lady receptionist that she would get me one but it was not supplied (Room 710) In the end I managed to get one off one of the cleaners after seeing a spare one on their trolley. For me this is a lack of consideration for your guests. I asked at Reception about acccessing a pc for internet access. Although WIFi is available sometimes you need to use a pc rather than a mobile phone if you need to work. Neither anyone at reception vpukd recommend where I could get access. Can you inform reception that the public including tourists can get free pc access at the Funchal Municipal library.. I went there during my stay. The third negative point was there is no iron in the room nor ironing board but you're a 4 star hotel. When I asked at Reception. I was told that the fee to hire an iron was 5 euros with a 45 Euro deposit. Although 5 euros is nothing I was flabbergasted. I epukd expect an iron to be provided free of charge. A deposit seems reasonable but 45 euros is more than the replacement cost of approx 30 euros. Lastly... I had some cardboard and plastic to recycle on my last day. Given how beautiful and tidy Madeira is and the recycling facilities in the city centre I thought that the hotel would have a proper sustainability policy including the recycling of guest cardbaird and plastic etc. Nothing is mentioned in the guest book . When I asked Reception in the morning on my last day the receptionist had not got a clue and ignorant of green issues For these reasons alone I will not be staying at this hotel again Chris Hannon United Kingdom

Kind of OK for an easyjet package holiday, but a long way from 4 star. Rooms were comfortable and clean but quite dated with dingy bathrooms, the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours' conversations quite clearly. Bar and restaurant staff were lovely, but the breakfast was generally bad. Reception staff were pretty disengaged and unhelpful, they seemed shocked when we asked for a plug so that we could have a bath (!) and the younger woman in particular was very aloof and unfriendly - she seemed to think it was a privilege for us to be staying there. You get what you pay for, I suppose, and it's reasonable value for money all things considered, but I wouldn't hurry back.

Raga has a good heart and hard working people our room was serviced every day we had a bath which was great and a small fridge.. its a good value for money hotel with a comfortable bed. And nice lounge areas to sit and chill..pool is cold.. shower first..it helps to cool skin . Car parking works on first come basis but is a bonus and free when available. - on the negatives i struggled with the crashing and banging of doors in the evenings it was noisy..and it travelled ..there are new buildings near the hotel going up. so be aware additional drilling outside from cranes during working hours is also noisy- the closing of the balcony door double glazed helped to reduce this. Aircon not working right would be challenging in summer we checked error code online and think it needs topping up on coolant... my tip would be high floor better than low floor..for a nice view.
