Lovely clean 👌 great hotel

The room smelled of mildew - all my clothes smelled of this when I got home. The side of the bath was peeling off and it was dirty where it was peeling. There were rust stains on the bath / tiles. I stayed for 3 nights and the room was barely made up even when I asked / left notice on the door. Bare minimum, bins emptied and towels folded on one day only. The only food is in the RoadChef services and the Leon had run out of pescetarian food by 7 and closed at 8 as do all the other restaurants apart from Macdonalds. This hotel was not super cheap. I expected more. It felt pretty grim.

Having done quite a lot of research into the rooms at this particular Days Inn, ours bore no resemblance whatsoever to any of the photos on the website. While it was spacious it felt like pieces of furniture were just randomly placed in the room. There were no bedside cabinets or overhead lights, a lack of sockets and no USB ports. We stayed for two nights and on our second morning left the bath towels in the allocated place for changing, making sure to put the correct ‘service my room’ notice on the outside door handle. When we arrived back later that evening the towels were still on the bathroom floor, the tea/coffee/milk essentials had not been topped up and the bins were full. I went straight to the reception desk and the lady on duty was very apologetic and helpful and immediately sorted the situation. Overall our stay as okay but the place could do with being modernised and the website definitely needs updating, if only to show what ALL the rooms are actually like.

There’s a good pub with food about 1 mile away

For a one night stopover it was ideal, especially as it was actually at a motorway service area along my route. However the food options available were very limited. The room was excellent value for money

A good and cost-effective service station hotel. Ask for a room to the rear for more quiet! McDonald’s, Leon, Costa, TG Jones and a breakfast place(Chozen after 11am) mean there are plenty of good, quick eating options too. The room was clean and spacious, if a little dated in places, and served us just fine for an overnight stay for a night out in Newport.

The place was easy to get to. Lovely staff and the room was lovely. The room was clean but there was marks on the beds quilt cover and pillow case.

Parking was easy and in front of the hotel, which is in the service area of the motorway.

Personally this was the worst hotel stay ive had and this is completly my opinion but so bad that we checked out a day early and stayed somewhere else. Weve stayed in a Days inn before and knew what to expect, however this one was directly attached to the services and car park is shared with them. On arrival i wasnt able to pay for pet charge as the lady on reception was receptionist and couldnt take payment, it took sometime to check in. Room wasnt clean, chair had dirty stains, bathroom bin hadnt been emptied and still had used feminine products filling it. Apart from the above the worst thing for me was lack of sleep i was woken at 2 am and kept awake for 30mins while someone in the room above stomed about and then again at 4am when someone arrived across the hall and was banging doors, i guess this is to be expected with a 24hr check in but walls/floors must be so thin to be able to hear this. Before we left i tried to speak to reception and this was closed in the morning. I have truly learned my leason and shall not be staying in a Days Inn again. Just as an advisory tale for anyone looking to stay here i wanted to share our experience
