Really nice room in a lovely coaching inn. Quality bedding , towels etc. comfy bed. Booked & prepaid thru Hotels.com and when we arrived we were a little taken aback to be charged an extra £20 for our little dog. It would have been nice to have known about this extra fee beforehand as it came as a bit of a shock , I didn’t get any reply from accommodation following my messaging them & also leaving a telephone message to say we’re bringing our dog. Other than that , a good stay.

OMG - what a find. This place is beautiful with a very interesting history. Staff were lovely from the adorable girl who checked us in through to the lovely lady who checked us out. Facilities great, spotless and a lovely breakfast. Location is wonderful too. We will def be back

The hotel is great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautifully appointed. The location is ideal for exploring that area of Devon, not far from the coast, Dartmoor and some fantastic market towns.

Unsafe - the staff do not stay in the Inn or even near to the premises over night. The night we stayed we and other guests (who discussed the next day at breakfast) experienced a sleepless night due to a frightening and horrible ordeal. The Staff member we all raised to at breakfast was genuinely sincere and apologetic. She rang the Manager to notify immediately after hearing our accounts. When checking out, I asked us if us emailing an account of what happened be of use to the Manager? The staff member replied it would help greatly in them tracking down the perpetrator as to whether it was a guest or neighbours. We were also told the Manager will be in touch with us. I happily provided an email account of events once home. I have not heard anything from the Manager of the George Inn (its 10 days now) at all.

Arrived at 7.20 pm, but by 7.30 the noise and vibration of the unannounced disco started and didn't finish until 12.03 am. The noise was so loud that even our bed was vibrating. Our Room 6 was immediately above the disco! Tried to change our room, but the woman we spoke to said that she would have to speak to the manager. She disappeared , but never returned. We then waited at the bar, but the disco was so loud we couldn't hold a proper conversation, no one came to serve us. We left the pub and returned at 11.20, ( We had wanted an early night in a quiet country Inn), and were promised faithfully, that it would stop in 5 minutes. We asked again whether we could change rooms. She turned to speak to presumably the manager, or the owner, who told her, 'No'. He didn't even bother to say sorry. 40 minutes later at just gone midnight disco stopped. Noise carried on with doors opening and closing and general noise from below. The room was cold and the bed was hard, and we were still awake at 4am, with a dog in the neighbouring bedroom barking and also presumably someone leaving before it got light! According to 2 other members of staff, we should have been warned about the disco being on. We said we wouldn't be staying for the next 2 nights as we couldn't risk being kept awake for another night. Expedia were almost impossible to get through to, but eventually we were told that The George Inn would not be letting us have any money back.

Excellent stay here, good friendly service, excellent food and beautiful comfortable room. Highly reccomend

Overall, the hotel is absolutely stunning. Love you location food Exceptional staff, very friendly if I have one and this has happened before having rooms above kitchens where an extractor fan is left on till 9 pm at night is somewhat distracting to the guest. If I was made aware of this before I booked or went in I would’ve asked for for a different room however as I’ve mentioned the hotel is exceptional very nice, but again extractor fans Grrrr…

Excellent just one or two minor maintenance issues but not detrimental to stay.

Great price, Great staff, all very helpful and breakfast was right up there.

Exceeded expectations. Lovely room, good breakfast. Dinner was lovely too. Service was patchy - they were lovely but inexperienced and a little bit stretched.

A very nice room just a delay 0n dinner and smoke coming into the bar / hallway due to the location of smokers in the courtyard.

Although is ground level, there was no disturbance. The room is big and comfy

Service was at a just acceptable standard. Menu options were limited with many items not being available. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Overall an average stay.
