Loads of parking. Room was clean, perhaps a little cramped for twin beds. A few hooks for coats would be helpful. Shower was very powerful. Toiletries and tea and coffee/water/biscuits were replaced daily! One downside which affected room 8 was the constant flushing of back water in the toilet - not sure if other rooms were affected; just a bit off putting. Breakfast was ok - not special but adequate. The young man who looked after this was great. Always welcoming and polite. The exterior of Rivendell was lovely but the rear looks rather run down. It’s in a good location close to A75 which gives access to many lovely places to visit.

Breakfast was very good. Room was clean.Pillows not so good like a slab of concrete and towels were more like a hand towel to shower with and very thin. But overall a pleasant stay.

If you like a rusty mirror moody bathroom toilet handle not working shower cubicle rusty and black on the steel frame cold water tap not working properly stained bedroom walls and wooden window frames rotting then this is the place for you. Couldn’t understand the lady who finally let us in but the gentleman serving breakfast was charming and very very nice.

There was no staff onsite, the room was so draughty I kept checking for open windows. I went to bed in my socks and jumper. I woke at 4am freezing as there was no heating ashivered

Room was on smallish side & a bit dated, but clean. No receptionist available for any bespoke communication requests. Breakfast was good with efficient polite service

One of those hotels without staff and you have to phone to get code for key box. Clean rooms, comfortable. Good cooked breakfast.

Serious problem on phone when trying to enter the building due to the lady on line unable to explane that the room key and front door keys were in the lock box. I discussed this with the manager the following day and he accepted that the lady did have problems in explaining things. Note that anyone arriving without an operating telephone would not be able to get the code for the lock box!!!
