dont expect too much as it is just motel. However, it is not just a motel. It is a motel with long history. I believe the motel preserved its core architecture since then, and you can imagine the pioneers one hundred years ago stay at the same place, looking at the same sky as you. The staff is great as well.

Definitely stayed for the experience. Online pictures looked so cool and seeing it in person made it even better. There were a lot of review about it being run down and not being super updated. Literally the whole point of the experience is the culture of the building. My room and bathroom was very clean, loaded with supplies, the front desk staff was extremely friendly, and check-in/check/out was very smooth. It was only 30 minutes from Death Valley National Park and only an hour and 45 minutes from Las Vegas so it was super convenient! I absolutely loved this place for my solo trip and I will certainly be back again!!

Staff is professional, courteous, helpful, and informative about the area. The room very clean but is outdated and with some issues that are going to be expected for such an old hotel. It has its own personality and history which make it a great place to stay. This won’t be the type of place for people looking for all the amenities seen in a modern hotel but was a perfect place for me and my family.

The 100+ year old Amargosa Opera House & Hotel is one of a kind. If you're looking for a shower & clean room for a good night's sleep, then this place is great for just that! If you're looking for anything more, it's not a 5 star luxury spa & resort setting, & is not the place for you. The front desk attendant, Connie, was super sweet & welcoming. She gave us info on the hotel & made sure everything was set for our one night stay. Thank you Connie! The rooms are definitely older & have been preserved to reflect the original structures & decor as much as possible. Having said that, these things are important to be aware of before booking your stay: -No TV, phone, fridge or microwave in the room. -The mattresses are a little hard & not that comfy. -There is Wi-Fi. -The plumbing is original so they ask you to go sparingly on the use of tp & to not put anything else down the toilet & nothing down the drains. In addition, guests are asked to let the hot water trickle for about 15 minutes before use to warm up the terra cotta pipes. These are not at all negative comments, just facts to be aware of ahead of time. The setting is quiet & peaceful. The room was clean & comfortable. The A/C & Wi-Fi worked well & we had a good night's sleep. *this property is known for being haunted (which we did not find out about until after we had checked out), & although it may appear spooky at night, we did not witness any unusual activity during our stay

A truly unique and fantastic stay. Limited amenities, but it does have a microwave and fridge for guest use, as well as more history and charm than one can imagine without experiencing it.

The property definitely felt like roughing it, like it hadn't been updated in decades. I know they are trying to maintain the character, but really I just wanted a place close to the park to save me driving time.. The after hours check in was a bit stressful ... they only let me know there was no attendant after hours the morning of, but since I was in Death Valley NP, I had no signal and did not see the message. So I arrived and was stressed b/c I didn't think I would be able to get into my room. I also find it a little odd they don't let you fill up water bottles.

Whether or not you’ll like this hotel is based on one overriding question : can you tolerate an old, dingy property, and rooms in obvious disrepair, in the name of historical authenticity? I suspect people will either love or hate this place. I loved it, my wife hated it! There you go…

Pity there are no marks for charm and singularity. This is just not your normal motel, nor is Amargosa hamlet, which is a photographer's. Staying there was a memorable experience for all sorts of good reasons. Boring and bland it is not. Bed comfy, aircon works. Shame windows don't open. Bring your own food, there's nothing around. Good jumping off for DV and just up the road from Shoshone and its wonderful museum. Watch the stars way out in the desert.

Rustic and historic. That’s what you’re booking. This place is in original condition and prides itself on it. There was a place in time where a facility such as this existed but has long disappeared because of technology and amenities. You are booking an experience not an amenity. This place is a destination within itself. Kudos for the owner’s belief that people will party for the experience. Rooms are clean, bed is clean but sparse. Again you’re there for the history. Don’t change a thing. Don’t you draw.

The staff was very warm and helpful. Our room was clean, good beds, clean towels and bedding. No TV. Spotty internet, but I think that is due to remote location. Old plumbing (very old.) The desk was manned 8-8, but often unattended. No food there, no coffee available til staff arrives at 8. This is a place with a beloved history that the local fans keep alive. But the property was run down. The hall was especially dank, carpet bad. The tour of the Opera house is supposed to be very worthwhile, according to other guests, but we could not attend. The hotel is 30min from the Death Valley entrance.
