The pool was really amazing had different pools in different areas, I enjoyed the ambiance, the beach was lovely and right there on the resort. I enjoyed the jerk chicken on the beach. Played good music at the pool me and my boyfriend enjoyed ourselves. Only thing sometimes elevators werent working

I stayed at Riu República and overall the experience was good. The hotel has very good food with a lot of variety in the restaurants, which I really appreciated. However, there are some details that need improvement: the bed sheets had a very unpleasant smell. I asked to have them changed, but even after that they still smelled the same, which made it hard to sleep comfortably. The air conditioning wasn’t very effective either and didn’t cool the room enough. On top of that, some of the staff were not very friendly — when I asked questions or needed guidance, the attitude was a bit rude, which definitely affects the experience. In conclusion, the hotel offers good food and entertainment, but comfort and customer service could be improved a lot.

Miscommunication with Steakhouse reservation process, front desk at check-in stated no reservations needed, Steakhouse have another process. Spray/ exterminate balcony area, too many flies. Need more entertainment at theater.

Most of the things were good, a few staff employees were veeery rude, and we were made aware that it was like that because they believed we were not going to tip. Which is not a valid excuse in my opinion.

Wednesday the 24 of September 2025 the room started getting warm. Thought it would cool off by night. Called front desk Thursday at 2 pm about problem, they said they would send maintenance. 425 pm I went to front desk and she said she called the technician. Waited till 6 pm tech came and said will be one minute. At 730 no show no call so I went to dinner and had my wife stay and I’ll bring back something for her to eat. 8pm on way back met a manager I think name Angelo and told him of the problem. He informed me that the ac was out in the entire building. I told him that had someone called and informed me that that my wife would have accompanied me to dinner rather then waiting in the room waiting for tech guy. He apologized and said he’ll do something for the inconvenience, nothing. Seen beverages guy in hallway and asked for two seven up. Rude guy said all ready been to the room today. I told him it rain all day and no ac in room so we consumed more cold beverages. We rude the first week of our stay. And the last time we seen him was telling us that because of “do not disturb” sign on door they didn’t service the room. As for the hotel itself, hallway echo making it noisy, people yelling, talking very loud and knocking on door like a bunch of kids. You would think that it’s a adult only hotel that people would act their age instead of a group of kids. I’ve stayed at Riu in Costa Rica, Panama and bamboo Punta Cana before. This was the worse. Will not go back there again!!!

You will not notice it right away, but the resort is very safe. They really do care if you leave the resort for any reason. The resort itself is priced perfectly for its accommodation, my only gripe is the amount of flies and mosquitos inside the restaurants. If your looking for inexpensive but fun, RIU Republica is the spot.

This is my seventh stay at a Riu property. I’ve previously stayed in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cabo, and Jamaica, and now Punta Cana. I’ve always enjoyed Riu resorts in the past, but this trip was terrible. At this resort, the restaurants closed by 8:30 p.m., which was very disappointing. Service at other Riu properties has always been excellent, but in Punta Cana it was the opposite. The staff overall came across as unfriendly—it wasn’t just one or two people, it felt like the entire resort culture. I tried to dine at the steakhouse twice but could never get a reservation, even when I arrived as early as 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. The Japanese buffet served the exact same food every day, and the overall food quality was awful. Communication was also a problem. Except for the reservation staff, hardly anyone else spoke or understood English, which made things even more frustrating. Lastly, I upgraded my room at check-in to get a balcony with a view, but my balcony had no view at all—another disappointment.
