The hotel staff was friendly, from the receptionist to the kitchen team. The room was clean, cleaned every day at breakfast. Towels were also changed and amenities were refilled. The food was pretty good; I'd stay here again. The only problem was that the refrigerator in my room wasn't cold enough. So far, so good.

Some of the hotel staff were unfriendly, and when we left, the porter who helped us unload our luggage was rude. Some of the staff also looked at us walking as if we weren't appreciated. Parking behind the hotel also has a fee.

Hotel on the outskirts of Medan, comfortable, not far from the city center, quite a lot of breakfast choices.

Good and quite good for office work

I booked the Executive Room — their most expensive option — and was really disappointed. At check-in I was asked whether I preferred a smoking or non-smoking room, which apparently also determines the direction the room faces (either the main street or the back). I took the non smoking option which turned out to be the worst decision. The room I got was extremely noisy. Both windows were loose and completely unsealed — I could easily fit my finger between the frame and the glass. The main street noise came straight inside, and through one of the gaps I could literally see the street outside. Unbelievable for a so-called Executive Room. When I asked for another room, the staff said a room change would only be possible the next day. Canceling the booking wasn’t allowed either. I’ve stayed in some very cheap hotels across Indonesia, but this was by far the worst experience — especially considering the price and the claim of being one of the better hotels in Medan.

Breakfast is quite good, lots of choices, but the room key has to be recharged before 12 noon, which is a bit of a hassle because it has to be used to access the lift, resulting in frequent trips to the reception.
