I booked the Executive Room — their most expensive option — and was really disappointed. At check-in I was asked whether I preferred a smoking or non-smoking room, which apparently also determines the direction the room faces (either the main street or the back).
I took the non smoking option which turned out to be the worst decision.
The room I got was extremely noisy. Both windows were loose and completely unsealed — I could easily fit my finger between the frame and the glass. The main street noise came straight inside, and through one of the gaps I could literally see the street outside. Unbelievable for a so-called Executive Room.
When I asked for another room, the staff said a room change would only be possible the next day. Canceling the booking wasn’t allowed either. I’ve stayed in some very cheap hotels across Indonesia, but this was by far the worst experience — especially considering the price and the claim of being one of the better hotels in Medan.
