great service. it was unfortunate that one of the air conditioners in one of the rooms kept breaking down during our stay but the great service and attitude from the staff made up for everything.

I would recommend using the hotel transportation. It is not easy for taxi cabs to find the location of the hotel. They provided multiple resources for things to do while in Guilin.

The hotel wasn't the easiest to find on our own, so I would recommend taking a taxi from the airport if you are not so confident. The hotel is located on the river with nice views of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, we had the wrong impression of the area which we thought would be different to other Chinese cities with it maybe being a little more traditional, however it was just the same which is our own fault really (google images didn't help the misconception). We were greeted by a fabulous, gray cat in the waiting room and then taken to our room which lived up to its name of being a relaxation hotel. It had a particularly large and cozy bath as well as a tea drinking area. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly, they spoke good English also.

We enjoyed our stay at Zen Tea House. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, the staff was very friendly and helpful (and spoke good English which is rare in China). The location of the hotel is not very central but it is only a short taxi ride to the city center (it costs less than US$3), so that is not a problem. I would definitely recommend Zen Tea House

Great little family run boutique hotel. Street entrance is a little off putting but once inside it’s charming. They offer breakfast either western or Chinese - both delicious, the rooms are nice, we had a river view. Staff are great and extremely helpful, took me to a local restaurant around the corner to get take-out when I didn’t have the energy to eat out. We arrived very early (8:30am) and they let us shower and change in s spare room before our check-in at 2pm.

This place is one of the more unique hotels. There is an immediate homely feeling the moment you enter. The owner and his wife are extremely welcoming and will gladly arrange tours for you, filling up everyday with fun, local activities - none of the touristy feeling. They will also educate you about Chinese tea culture and there are many opportunities to enjoy different kinds of tea. Definitely would come back to guilin just to stay at this tea house.

We were very happy with our stay at the Zen Tea House. We arrived in Guilin by train and took a taxi to our hotel. The hotel was not easy to find from the street so we called the hotel. The hotel staff came out to the street to find us and help us carry our bags down the alley to the entrance. The hotel is located along a flowing river in Guilin. The check in was very nice. They offered us tea while we presented our passports to check in even though we arrived late. We were taking a trip down the Li River early in the morning and were taking a tour bus before the breakfast. In the morning the staff had packed us a breakfast to take along on the bus which was much appreciated. When we arrived back at the hotel that evening we walked out on the street to find a nice restaurant. There were many restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. The selection included many bbq restaurants, traditional chinese, and hot pot. We selected a chicken hot pot which was excelent! Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. I always enjoy staying in a boutique hotel when it is available because you get a much better Chinese experience. I would highly recommend the Zen Tea House and plan to stay there again when I visit the are with my wife, daughter, and son-in-law when we travel to Guilin again next year.

there is good tea on arrival and their staff Amy really picked us up from the taxi on the street and helped us with our luggages all the way inside. The hotel was easy to communicate with, on expedia and i had asked them to make arrangements for a pickup from the train station which was done for a good price. (Far cheaper then if i had booked a transfer online or with a travel agency). they wanted to upgrade us to show us their best room but i disliked the idea of packing and unpacking for only 1 night and i was satisfied with what i have booked so i declined, but they did show me the room and it was nice. The breakfast included was good and you have an option between chinese breakfast and western. The room is clean, zen-like and beds are comfortable. Everything was functioning well i.e airconditioning and there was complimentary toiletries and a hair blower in the room. I did slip in the bathroom once but i was not wearing their provided bathroom slippers. The hotel is small, beside the river, and is not far from the main downtown but its location is kind of in a dubious area. Appears safe though, even when we ventured out on our own at night. They also offered their own food tour which i once again declined because of time constraint. The main appeal of the hotel for me was really Amy. She spoke good english and assisted me on multiple things like calling cabs, getting taxi cost estimates and even called the hotel on the next city in our itinerary to ask about pickup.

We had the most amazing two night stay at Zen Tea House. The staff were amazing and extremely accommodating for our late arrival providing food out of hours, which was delicious & just what was needed. Excellent friendly staff & we cannot recommend the car trip to see the Karst Mountains, our guide was amazing, took photos for us, and was extremely knowledgable on the area. A fantastic end to our trip in China before we moved on to Vietnam.

It was a bit hard to find at first as it is tucked away nicely next to the river. The staff were not only helpful and attentive, but always eager to help. Chris gave a wonderful three hour walking tour of the city, proving some unique views of the beauty and character of Guilin. I hope to stay there again.

This is actually a review for the Zen Tea House - Elephant Park, this hotel’s sister hotel. We booked at this hotel originally, but were contacted by the hotel immediately afterwards saying the room had been double-booked, and asked if we would be ok with staying at this other hotel instead. We agreed. The experience here was great! Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast, and great room with comfortable bed. They arranged a tour for us, and provided competitive pick up/drop off rates for the airport and train station. Would stay here again!

I cannot recommend this inn enough! The staff were super welcoming and friendly and really made us feel at home. They helped us with everything from restaurant recommendations, calling cabs, and booking tours. The inn itself has great design. Lovely views from the courtyards, comfortable beds, and adorable common space. Breakfast was also very tasty, filling, and a good deal. I will definitely book Zen Tea House for my next trip to Guilin.

The Zen Tea House is a great place to stay in Guilin. It's tucked out of the way and we had a room which overlooked the river which was nice. The room itself was a good size with nice amenities, clean and comfortable. It was very much a more authentic experience than a corporate hotel with lovely little touches such as the tea service in the room. The staff are all friendly without exception and extremely helpful. Their excellent level of English was a great bonus too. There were plenty of local eateries and you can walk into down town Guilin within about 30 minutes. If you're planning on visiting Guilin or the Li River, we'd recommend this hotel.
