Our 11-night stay at Sunset del Mar Beach Resort (2 rooms) was a very big disappointment. Throughout our stay, room cleaning was minimal, and on our penultimate day it did not happen at all. Cleaning seemed to consist only of making the bed and changing towels—when towels were provided at all, as there were occasions when they were simply forgotten. Despite visible stains on the floor, there was no proper mopping done during our stay. Room 105, in particular, was in very poor condition: the TV in this room was not working, the entrance door was extremely difficult to open; we often spent several minutes trying to get into the room. The bathroom ventilation did not work, and the window could not be opened either. As a result, during the night, an unbearable smell coming from the bathroom spread throughout the entire room. We joked that the room stayed dirty simply because, just like us, the staff could get inside. It is truly a pity, because the resort has great potential. The location is excellent, right on the beach, and the exterior areas are beautiful, with lush vegetation and a very pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, these positives are overshadowed by the lack of maintenance. The pool was very dirty, and the overgrown vegetation on one of the exits toward the beach was barely taken care of. Breakfast was à la carte rather than buffet, which in itself is not an issue, but 3 days into our stay we were informed that fruit would no longer be served in the mornings. This was disappointing, especially for a beach resort. Finally, the sofa in one of the rooms was extremely dirty, adding to the overall feeling of neglect. This is clearly not a resort to choose not even for a short stay, let alone for 11 days

The location of this hotel is second to none. Absolutely breathtaking views of the ocean and you’re literally on the sand within one minute of walking from your room. That’s where the positives end. Overall our stay was fine, but management is doing a poor job of maintaining this place. Overfilled garbage bins, small garbage around the bar/patio area, cracked tile in our room, dirty walls in our room, poor room cleaning from the maids, towels felt gross. The bar/patio area had numerous string and fan lights that weren’t even working. The food was super average and overpriced. The beach chairs and cushions were gross and dirty. The pool literally had green algae growing on the bottom and there was small garbage floating in the water. This place needs a serious overhaul from ownership. My wife and I spent most of our trip talking about we would improve this place.

I spent 4 Nights at this resort, I really enjoyed my time there, the staff was really friendly and helpful, the Beach is nice (not suitable for swimming) and the complex is in OK shape. In general everything is rather well maintained although there are some unnecessary hickups like broken sun umbrellas at the pool or lounge chairs which have seen there best days already. All in all it’s good value for money.

The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach, which is the only positive. Unfortunately, everything else was very disappointing. The room was not clean, the bed sheets had stains, the towels smelled musty, and the shower had visible mold. We didn’t even try the pool because the edges and tiles had green buildup. Trash bins were also not emptied and there was garbage left around. Service was also quite poor. We arrived around 9pm hoping to get a small dessert, but kitchen was already closed. When checking out early at 6:45am, we were asked to come back in 15 minutes just to pay a small bill, which would have taken 30 seconds. Even if it’s not an expensive hotel for the area, we still expected the bare minimum which is having a clean room. I really don’t recommend this place.

Location of the hotel is amazing and the stuff very nice and helpful. The room was clean. The hotel needs urgently to be refurbished. Restaurant is over-priced. Everything is old and falling apart. I would not recommend it. However the beach is wonderful. 🙏
