Hotel in Great location and rooms and amenities first class, what does let it down is the food in the bar & restaurant, very expensive for what it is, and always seemed a long wait for main course to be served, Also when we where there the power went off late at night with lights turning on and off several times but next morning, no apologies or any type of explanation. No one even asked if we had had a good stay when checking out.

The staff were polite and helpful. Plenty of choices regarding meals. The room could of been cleaner regarding cobwebs around the blind and lights in the bathroom. When requesting clean towels it was noted that the dirty towels were just folded and put back on the bed.

From the momment wearrivedseeing this wonderful hotel sat on the banks of Windermere i think we knew we had picked a great place to stay It didnt disappoint.from the momment we checked in the staff we really helpful, our room was excellent very clean and well maintained and was perfect. The location both of our room and the hotel really couldn't have been any better and I must say the gardeners do an excellent job keeping it looking so colourful. Both breakfast and dinner were really great and prompt polite service was always given and the staff always helpful. We will look forward to another visit.

Nice welcome from reception and help with bags. Room very comfortable and clean but a bit stuffy due to exceptionally warm weather and no AC in room which can’t be helped but had brought our own cooling fan in addition to the one provided by the hotel. No bar service outside so had to get own drinks from outside bar or in the Muddy Boot pub inside. Drinks prices are a bit on the steep side but a great choice of wines beers and cocktails. Staff mostly friendly but I wouldn’t say they were above and beyond in terms of the service. We ate in the brasserie both night and enjoyed what we had but highlight was the excellent breakfast. Location is fantastic being right on the banks of Lake Windermere and next to the ferry pier which takes you to Bowness although this ends around 6pm so there’s not much choice of alternative places to eat in the immediate area unless you want to drive out. Overall an enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend.

This place is an absolute gem! The location is stunning and even in hot weather the sun sets on the other side from the terrace so cools in the evening. The team are so friendly and helpful, food, drink the spa all excellent nothing is too much trouble They set my room up so it would be cooler sorting fans and closing curtains as part of the daily routine. I can’t wait to go back

Such a relaxing stay! Huge room with comfortable beds and plentiful tea and coffee facilities - especially nice local touch using Herdy mugs. Spa and pool were very nice, and lovely outdoor spaces to relax right on the lake. Would have loved more time to spend a lazy afternoon in the cosy surroundings getting lost in a book. Good cooked breakfast, my husband especially enjoyed the smoked haddock and poached eggs. Would love to come back and stay longer next time!

Not really disability friendly, few grab handles in the shower, very small lowdown fridge requiring almost hands and knees to see contents. Two separate lifts placed side by side at one side of the building ( why ? ) Very limited access for Rollator, walker users although staff do their best to help. Very large and comfortable bed, great flat screen telly with good reception no aircon in room but decent fan supplied for hot weather. food ok and good level of cleanliness. Would go again bearing these comments in mind.

Well decorated, comfortable room. Good amenities tray. Ensuite bathroom was large and clean. Everything cleaned, tidied and replenished by housekeeping to high standard. Amiable, professional staff. All smart in appearance. Breakfast was excellent with good selection of cereals, pastries, fruits, yoghurt etc and a choice of foods cooked to order. Somewhat limited choice of food in Brasserie, eg only one steak, quality and presentation not as expected for price. Lunch menu - outside terrace and conservatory- unfortunately also expensive, eg £36 for Ploughman's to share, for both the quantity and quality delivered. Beautiful location, convenient for exploring the Lakes by car, boat and steam train.

This hotel is set in the most beautiful setting right in the edge of Lake Windermere . There is a seating area surrounded by greenery and flowers as well as a large conservatory for when the weather did not allow for outside sitting. The breakfasts are fantastic. A cold buffet with lots of choice and a menu with a variety of hot options cooked to order. The beds are comfy and bedrooms clean. An added bonus for me was the pool area. The staff are friendly and helpful. The overall experience at this hotel allowed me to have a relaxing and luxurious break

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel so much I intend to return. The hotel, the gardens and its location on edge of Lake Windermere are wonderful. Fortunately for us the heat wave that affected the country at the end of May meant that we didn’t use the car but instead relaxed in the beautiful gardens, went on short walks or just watched the steamers come and go from the nearby landing. In the early morning sunshine the calmness of the lake is simply magical. Less complimentary reviews that said the place was ‘tired’ and in need of updating are unfounded in my opinion and given that it was originally a 17th century coach house that has been extended over the years makes it more appealing. The ‘green’ credentials of the hotel are also to be applauded - I noticed some rewilding with a wild flower meadow, a bug hotel and beehives. I can’t say I’ve ever seen those at other hotels.

The location is amazing and the staff are wonderful- really friendly and helpful. The spa is good and breakfast is lovely too. However, the evening restaurant food is poor and basically very overpriced low quality pub food. The restaurant is the most not letdown, otherwise a wonderful hotel and stay.
