The publicity made CSL look much better than it was. The staff were very good and I checked in quickly. However, I soon found out that there was no air conditioning in the room and no fans. Because the "lodge" was located in the community with houses all around, the street and community noise was noticeable waking me up from time to time. Not much to do in the area that would be fun or interesting as it is away from the city a bit and a long ways from any interesting mountain viewing or safaris.

The Crest Safari Lodge is a hidden gem. Hard to find but worth it. Note: we were in a front room (201) and hotel had lots of guests who were climbing Kilimanjaro - this means late arrivals and early departures, tromping down the hall without concern for other guests. Just be aware!

We spent several days at Crest Safari Lodge before and after a camping safari. For the price range, the hotel provides excellent accommodations: rooms are clean, hot water is available (though pressure can be low in the mornings), breakfast is filling, with an omelette, scrambled eggs and pancake station, as well as cooked foods and breads, fruit etc., and provides healthful options. Front desk and dining room staff are very friendly and extremely accommodating. Depending on where guests are placed, some rooms can be a bit noisy from roosters crowing in the morning, or (in the case of the rooms at the top of the stairs leading from the lobby) from echoing noise from the reception and dining room area. The hotel is a little far from downtown and the access road is a narrow, ungraded dirt road, but shuttle service is readily available at the hotel. Overall, good value for money and if in Arusha, we would stay again. Recommended to fellow travelers.

Crest was a charming hotel just slightly outside Arusha which was a welcome sight after our flight. Check in was easy and uncomplicated at the front desk; despite arriving at night there was no issue. We were brought to our rooms, which were just as pictured. Cosy, with comfortable beds, appropriate storage space for our bags and several power points. Pillows were comfortable. There was some noise coming from nearby quarters with barking dogs but it wasn't too loud and quieted down eventually. We had dinner, which was freshly made and decently portioned, and their breakfast buffet was also decent - with some bread, several spreads and options for hot food. They also had cheese, juice and milk. Had a slight problem when the key card to my room didn't work - they switched it twice but it still malfunctioned and we couldn't get into our room; staff ended up disabling the card and we used the manual lock instead so it ended up fine.

Nice hotel, nice and clean and spacious. Stay away from any goat meat, as the meat is typically overdone, and tough. Off the main road, would be hard to find on your own.

This is a great hotel, with fast and courteous check in,a lovely restaurant with a great menu, and bar. My room is large and spacious. Hot water was abundant. Electricity was 24 seven. Staff speak very good English and are very helpful. I stayed twice, once before safari and once after safari. I have found that Tanzanians tend to over cook their meat, and this is certainly true of Cedar safari inn. I tried the goat, and it was horrible I had to send back. My second stay, I ordered vegetables in coconut sauce with steamed rice that it was excellent. A little off the main road, which is good for quietness, but you would never know our hotel is back there. This is not in downtown Arusha, so to get to the better restaurants, you have to take a taxi. Or just go veg with the restaurant at the hotel. Lots of Kilimanjaro hikers, and those going on Safari.

Really great service! This is a small hotel with amazing manager, staff and support associates. Perfect if you are in Arusha for a night before your safari trip or going to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. Very reasonably priced. Have a good airport pick up/drop off service for a small fee. This is like a big residential house separated into several rooms. good security provided. Would love to go back and spend a couple days if the opportunity arises.
