2 out of 5 stars The only reason this isn’t a one-star review is because the beach was absolutely beautiful. That said, everything else fell short of expectations. We were extremely disappointed with how the staff treated us depending on whether or not we tipped—or even if they assumed we wouldn’t. This is marketed as an all-inclusive resort, yet we felt pressured to tip constantly: every meal, every drink, housekeeping, and pretty much any interaction. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere that overshadowed what should have been a relaxing experience. The room was another letdown. As a so-called family resort, the space was shockingly small for a family of four. With two toddlers (ages 3 and 4), it felt cramped and stressful any time we were in the room. Definitely not designed with young families in mind. We won’t be returning. The beach isn’t enough to make up for everything else.

I loved the experience I wish they had a little better tequila and they had better 24 hour food because after you drink you get hungry. Even if it was just pizza. But everyone was so nice! Amazing service.

Best of all resorts

I liked the resort and beachfront.. I didn’t like the food options or inability to get a reservation in the specialty restaurants

Really clean nice staff, fun for the entire family and food is EXCELLENT.

We had a wonderful time at Riu Tropical Bay Negril! The beach is the most beautiful beach that we have ever seen and we live in Southern California! Only negatives were the women’s restroom always smelled like sewer and there was some deferred maintenance around the property. Staff was nice, especially when tipped. Need to update some of the restaurants and menu items. Also, went to the other Riu property and found it to be much more up to date, but the beach at Tropical bay was far superior!

My transportation to the airport was completely and utterly botched by Expedia and Hotel Riu Palace Tropical Bay resulting in having to pay private transportation.

Too strict

No major complaints. The room and property were beautiful. Housekeeping did a wonderful job cleaning. Only real complaint were the sockets were a bit loose so getting devices to charge were difficult... but that could have been just my room. The views were absolutely beautiful and if i needed to be in the area again, i would stay here. I have a very limited diet so i cant comment on all the food. What i did eat was delicious. Check in and check out were a breeze. Lovely property. Met a wonderful server while we were there... she made dinnertime a very nice experience. Thank you for treating my family so great as we were back in Jamaica for a funeral.

The beach is the best thing on the property and the friendly staff. There is however nothing that is luxurious about the hotel. Accommodations average, food average.

Had a nice mixture of quiet and party vibe when needed. Went for my babymoon and had a great time. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. Enjoyed every minute of it

Anything on the ocean is beautiful however the lack of elevators and reaching out to the staff for towels that we never received is why my rating is what it is.

The location of the hotel is unique but the property needs more upgrades and renovation.

The staff and property are fine the thing that turned me was being nickel and dimed. We paid for an ocean view and were charged extra for our room when we got there regardless which I don't think is fair. Also AFTER I was told that $222 was the only additional up charge I was then again accosted by staff wanting ANOTHER $30! I was also charged one night at riu palace in Montego Bay because YOUR staff told us it was 3 HORS to tropical bay where we were supposed to stay and that was misleading as well. Finally we talked to someone who was knowledgeable and we got a cab to our actual resort and are supposed to have $3400 credited to our account. I still haven't seen that credit and I would like my $252 back. I also think it's ridiculous that I was charged $2.00 for ONE LOCAL phone call. If I'm not going to be compensated at all it's unlikely that I'll use or recommend Riu in the future. I'm definitely NOT ever using Expedia again that's for sure.

Great vacation! Very enjoyable, relaxing and excellent service. Chris at the Front Desk was awesome, Ashlee at the breakfast buffet was awesome and Sophie at the Dinner buffet was awesome. Everyone was so nice and polite!

The worker here are very nice and pleasant. I would return here.

Clean quiet

We had a wonderful stay. This was our first time at an all-inclusive resort and this location did not disappoint. We want to provide a very special thanks to the entertainment staff as they elevated our experience beyond our expectations. While I didn't get all their names, I do want to call out Lady T, Lady Phoenix, Zeus, our yoga instructor (Muscles?). We also want to thank the staff at Riu Land for connecting with our son and daughter, the wait staff at the buffet,

14rh time to this property. Best beach with the friendliest staff. Enough food options for most people

Property was well maintained and quiet. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. Had a great time at this resort.
