Was greeted and escorted into a room full of mosquitos! They knew and didn't even attempt to help. There was a net for a single bed but we had a double Couldn't sleep afterany attempts to kill them...

Staff friendly and helpful, overall condition of bathroom was pretty poor though. Location is excellent right next to beach, and honestly for the price it’s still pretty competitive. There was quite a lot of bugs in the bathroom though, it was hard for me to look past that. Otherwise I enjoyed the stay in a good location. Bedsheets clean, normal room amenities like coffee/heater/tea.

Very friendly staff, first rate service. If you stay tell the General Manager Cristi, that I will be back soon to take him and his son out for Cheeseburgers and fries. If you meet the owner, give him a Chat he is a great guy.

This place should be removed from Expedia as an option to choose from. We had several COCKROACHES in the kitchen, living room, etc. in fact, they left a bottle of RAID on the kitchen counter. Absolutely disgusting! We could get out of there fast enough. A door to the outside wasn’t even the size of the door frame and had about a 3 inch opening for critters to just get in. No air conditioning either. All around horrid!

We stayed for one night. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The restaurant food was a good quality. We booked the apartment as we needed the separate beds for children. The apartment is not actually faced into the interior garden, it is accessed from the road at the front. The apartment photos are not representative of the reality. The kitchen was scruffy and not very well maintained. The apartment doesn't have "proper" AC but a noisy stand alone unit that didn't really keep the rooms cool. The courtyard garden is a really nice place to sit and relax so it's a shame the apartment is not really part of the whole vibe.

Very good stay, staff and food were great, the room was fine but the bed could have been a little more comfy/bathroom was austere, so for a first spot after a long long flight the room could have been a little comfier in hindsight for our needs. Great courtyard, easy access to all of Negombo, quiet setting away from any crowds.

Great greating by the friendly staff of this guesthouse even if I arrived late. They couldn't find my reservation but found me an available room. Nice clean spacious room. The window had a view to a wall in little hallway. Had a good meal at the resto on the porch. Nicely located ditectly on beach. Very nice outdoor space bohemian syle with lots of sitting area.

The Icebear is truely unique. Fine rooms & Its set in a beautiful garden, the beach is right there, Christie & the staff are extremely helpful. You wont belive this place til you see it. It's like what you imagine hotels were like in the olden days, that being filled with character. A joy to stay, relax, unwind, & reflect on a wonderful holiday.

The air conditioning for our allocated room had failed. We were offered 2 noisy alternatives off-site. With apologies all round we took our bags without checking in and went to a hotel found by our driver. There the air conditioning in the quiet clean onsite room worked and we checked in there instead.

Great place to stay, right on the beach but handy for other places such as restaurants. Relaxing with friendly and attentive staff.

My husband and I spent our last night in Sri Lanka at the Ice Bear. Because it is low season we were the only guests in the house and we got a free upgrade which we much appreciated. The service was great. The room was nice. The shower in the bathroom has an open ceiling and the floor was wet when it rained. To be more eco friendly, the rooms could have screens in the windows and fans so that the AC can be spared. The guesthouse takes only cash as payment. This was a surprise when we checked out but luckily we had just enough cash to cover the bill. We loved the gardens and the quiet atmosphere.

Det är ett speciellt hotell. Ett bekvämt men enkelt ställe. Bra mat. Personalen är mycket hjälpsamma.

Freundliches, zuvorkommendes und unkompliziertes junges Personal. Die Rezeption war für alle Fragen offen und suchte, wenn sie nicht direkt Antworten konnten, nach Antworten! Die Anlage und das Zimmer waren sauber, alles war Vorhanden. Das Zimmer war zweckmässig eingerichtet. Das moderne Bad komplett ausgerüstet. Der Manager sprach Deutsch und pflegte mit dem Personal einen liebenswürdigen Umgang.

Ce petit hôtel (une dizaine de chambres) est idéalement situé sur la plage de Negombo (moins d'une demi heure). Personnel agréable et serviable, joli jardin en bordure de plage, petite carte au restaurant mais tout est bien cuisiné et savoureux. Notre chambre était spacieuse, propre et bien décorée. En revanche, juste 2 serviettes de toilette de couleur, une savonnette et un tapis de bain ayant connu des jours meilleurs étaient à notre disposition. Cela dit, je recommande cet établissement.

A fantastic place with the most beautiful garden. Great food and all of the staff ever so friendly. The best place to stay when just arrived from the airport or ready to leave Sri Lanka. I highly recommend it

Nostalgie. leuke inrichting en prachtige tuin. gelegen aan de indische oceaan. geen luxe voorzieningen maar een unieke sfeer. Zeer toegangelijke staf en managment. We voelden ons er goed thuis. muggen af en toe lastig maar een goede antispray helpt. Ondanks de muggen voor herhaling vatbaar. we hebben er een goed gevoel en tevredenheid aan overgehouden
