Great hotel two metro stops to the Acropolis & Plaka. Even better breakfast buffet.

Nice clean room. Our bathroom was very big, and the room was very small. could've used some of the room in the bathroom in the living space. best hotel breakfast that i've ever had. great neighborhood, that is away from the tourist craziness.

Amazing accommodations with gym and the best breakfast in Athens! Removed from the center which was nice and impeccable view of the Acropolis!

Lack of privacy and heard neighbors

It is a little of the city center but I knew what I signed up for and loved it. I stayed at their Thessaloniki location before and that was great too. Breakfast is awesome. Staff is kind and talkative - love that about them. Thanks guys!

The location is a bit far for walking to the Acropolis but if you have time and are able, it’s worth the walk. There are many neighborhoods and shops to explore along the way. Lycabettus Hill viewing area is within walking distance but it’s an uphill climb. Public transportation is close as well as many restaurants. Our room was comfortable, clean, and the breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful upscale neighborhood with great restaurants in the vicinity. The breakfast was exceptionally good. The front desk and breakfast staff were friendly and gracious, particularly Ian in front desk . The room cleaning staff did their job well, but would sometimes forget to replace glasses and cups, easy to fix by talking to front desk. The Modernist will be our preferred place to stay on future visits. We cancelled our booking in King George and booked in the Modernist mainly because of great reviews and lower cost - so glad we did it. The Kolonaki area is so much better than Syntagma square.

Everyone at the front desk and everyone in the restaurant was super friendly with meals, travel, going out suggestions, visiting the sights, etc. They helped me download apps for Taxi and food ordering. The breakfast is truly amazing with lots of options for both the food and the drinks and custom breakfast items. The only minor complaint I have is that they do not disturb sign is not honored . I had a “do not disturb” sign on the door, but housekeeping still knocked and entered. They apologized. The location is ideal, and right across a metro station. All in all-a great experience.

Ian at the front desk was amazing and so helpful! He made us feel right at home and was so kind with all our questions. Loved the Modernist - we will be back surely!!!

We were so pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Modernist. It is a smaller boutique hotel and captured EVERYTHING we had hoped for during our time in Athens. The staff and their recommendations were AMAZING. We did not have enough time to do sufficient research before we arrived and relied heavily on the help from the staff for restaurants (where locals go and not geared to tourists), how best to view the Acropolis, providing taxi service, where to walk to, etc. The room amenities included everything we hope to have when traveling - a great mattress and linens, sufficient AC, a window that opens, a makeup mirror, a full length mirror, a HOT shower with good pressure, a tea kettle, an iron and decent shelving and space to unpack. The included breakfast spanned over several hours so you didn't have to hurry to get it in. The food was delicious and the beverage service did not disappoint. We spent a fair amount of time on the roof top deck, which was comfortable and relaxing. The music was always on point and the convenience of ordering from the rooftop was an added bonus. We would stay at this hotel again and again.

We had an awful sleep, our room smelled so badly that it triggered an asthmatic attack for the two of us! The staff couldn’t move us because they were fully booked. They swore that all rooms are non-smoking but the smell was so bad and strong that they surely have a problem. We definitely over paid for the quality received, we will never go back. We are exhausted and stressed because of our lack of sleep. The staff was friendly enough but they just couldn’t address a huge issue with the state of their hotel room.

The design is excellent. The staff here are all swell. They made our stay memorable. Highly recommended.

Great location.

Will recommend for anybody so good!

This was our first stay at this hotel and we’re pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean with comfortable room of modern design. The staff was very welcoming, hospitable and helpful with all our requests. The hotel is conveniently located on in a quiet yet central neighbourhood. The breakfast was a generous buffet and the rooftop lounge provides a perfect end to the day with a view of the Acropolis in the distance. Next time we are in Athens we will definitely be returning to this hotel.
