Construction started 7am every morning. Music from restaurant next door kept you awake u til 3am. No AC in the room. Location was awesome tho. And so was breakfast.

Since my original room wasn't available, I was upgraded with a renovated room on the 5th floor. Quiet, cozy and comfortable. Staff was accommodating, friendly and courteous.

Very nice hotel on the main road, easy walk to the train station and many restaurants and sites. During a two week trip in Scandinavia, they had the best breakfast spread of all.

The location is the best you can ask for. Walk distance to many attractions and the train station. Got upgraded to the main building. Room was clean and comfortable but as usual in EU pretty small, we we’re there for one night so it was perfect. Breakfast was great!! Would choose it again.

Great area right across from the Christmas market and walkable to the Palace.

Loud, smelly. The room didn’t smell sanitized. Lack of iron and info on location of irons was lacking.

We had an absolutely lovely time here. The location is very convenient and close to public transportation. It is right across a nice park/green space in the center area of Oslo. The most amazing part of this Hotel was the absolutely phenomenal breakfast! Best breakfast I’ve ever had.. they had anything you could ever want and everything was extremely fresh and delicious.

The staff was fantastic. The facilities on the Karl Johan Hotel (33) side were great but the old part (35) were shabby. The bathroom had some mold and the jazz club downstairs kept me up at night. The room was very small, but worked. Breakfast was fantastic and bed+bedding was quite good. Overall it was a positive experience and considering the comparatively cheap price point for Norway and the most central location possible in the whole city, it was still a win!

My stay was good. Room was adequate for budget and breakfast was great. However I had a terrible experience during check in. I was given a key to a room that was already occupied and basically walked into someone's belongings (person wasn't there). I turned around w/o touching a thing but I could have easily taken an entire purse and sunglasses which were just lying there. Or worse walk into someone. After that there was a terrible confusion about which room was available for me. I spent the remainer of my stay afraid someone would walk in on me.

Excellent location, good breakfasts and friendly staff. The small rooms on the secondary hotel (not the main one) are very very small, they smell like old wet carpet, humid and the music playing downstairs is not as bad, depending how close you are to the bars.

The location is great. However my room was tiny with no safe no phone. They said that was the economy room. Minimal things.

The room was tiny. I paid the same amount last time and got much better room.

Stayed in the Economy room(s) side of the hotel- gate 35. Very comfortable, the bed fit two adults well and the comforter (duvets) were exceptional. Breakfast in Norway seems to be an important meal-more so than on the States. That being said, the spread offered each morning at Johan was 5 stars. Honestly I would pay separately to just eat breakfast here

Keep in mind there is a remodeling, construction going on outside of the hotel inside an old building down below the guests room. We were not able to relax during the day nor sleep in the morning due to constant loud noises. It looks like this activity has been going on for some time and will be continuing for some time as well. Be aware! The breakfast was great.

Lovely location central to sights and ferries. A budget room here does not have AC and is identified as such in the hotel signs. I thought that was not appropriate. Nice breakfast and good value for downtown Oslo.
