Hotel provided us the schedule of activities. But the schedule was suddenly changed and canceled without any notification. Even though my kids were waiting for it at place, no happen and no explanation and no notification. It was terrible.

Services here are excellent, way beyond my expectations. They checking on us everyday and all the time make sure we got everything we needed. They even did a little surprise on my daughter’s birthday.

Just got back from 8 days here at this resort. I’ll start with the positives. This resort is absolutely stunning. The grounds are well kept and the resort as a whole is fairly clean. The pool is very big and you can always find a cabana or chairs at any given time. The layout of the rooms is great. PLENTY of room for my family of five in a master suite. The bathroom having a shower and tub room separate with plenty of sinks made it very easy for all of us to get ready in a timely manner. The kitchen was great with plenty of room to eat when you order room service. The room service was the best meal we had, probably made to order if I had to guess, plus it arrived within an hour each time. The balcony was spacious and having entry from the bedroom was perfect for us to hang out after the kids went to sleep. The kids loved the habitat and the teachers were so good to our babies and kept them busy. The kids actually asked to go back severall times. Now for the cons. The food at this resort was VERY lacking compared to other resorts we’ve been to. Everything was underwhelming and under seasoned basically everywhere we went. Our best dish was the chicken wings at Rubi rocks. The beach restaurant serves “mahi mahi” as a whole fish with teeth. It looked exactly like a tilapia and when we questioned it, the waitress just walked off. At matchu they served “grouper” and it was full of tiny rib bones that would never be in grouper. Friendly staff but the concierge experience is laughable in contrast to other Melia resorts and/or other resort experiences. The concierge essentially only is books dining reservations and the property makes this a requirement, so if you want a reservation during your stay you need this option. Our concierge was physically not even on site one day because she had classes! The extra cost of a cabana would have totally been worth it if the person assigned would have shown up more than once every 1 1/2 hours. Other than making the beds, housekeeping was horrible and didn’t replace towels, toiletries, clean floors, restock nespresso or clean bathrooms. At one point we found our balcony door was left ajar and I was eaten up by mosquitos that night. What was more absurd was that several separate people came to restock and lingered with an expectation to be tipped for replenishing what the housekeeping (who was tipped each day)should have standard replenished. The amount of times the pool was closed due to people’s little ones having accidents was ridiculous but not the properties fault, although after the second time being the same kid you’d think the staff would have said something! Surprisingly the beach vendors were no where as near as aggressive as expected in contrast to reviews and have travelled to Jamaica and Bahamas in the past, they were friendly and humble.

My family and I enjoyed the hotel stay. It’s beautiful hotel. The architecture is beautiful and our master suits were very spacious. The food was tasty and their variety was very good , however the food was always cold. No luck in eating hot food if you get to the buffet by 8pm. They were nice enough to heat it but it was an inconvenience. My biggest issue was the distance to the beach. Sigh. I’m a big beach lover. But walking a mile to go to the beach wasn’t fun at all. Yes, they had cart driving back and forward. But an inconvenient. The beach is beautiful. Clean. The staff were okay. The staff in the buffet were excellent. Very nice and friendly. The biggest problem was permitting transportation come in to pick us up. They have a policy in place that the request to permit someone to enter need to be make within 24hrs. So we have to be transported to the entrance because they didn’t permit our transportation to enter. So stupid because it was only to be pick up as we weren’t asking to register anyone to enter the hotel per say. So we left the hotel very upset and no one was able to accommodate us. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel and our stay. The pool and water park for the kids were very clean.

Si eres dominicano te tratan diferente en el Hotel no te dan las atenciones que deben el la recepción te tratan como si no fueras a pagar en la entrada ni tragos de bienvenida te dan las maletas tú mismo la llevas a tu habitación porque si no te ven que viajas no le darás propinas

The property was a beautiful and the beach was truly the highlight of the trip, however, the service was TERRIBLE (I am being reserved with my word choice).We paid for a “ butler service” which the individual was available upon check-in and we never heard from him after that. We visited the concierge desk multiple times throughout our stay to help rectify the situation with no resolution. Upon check out, this was brought to the manager‘s attention and an apology was rendered, however, there was no openness to refunding money that was spent for the “butler service” during our stay. Furthermore, there were charges for spa services rendered and when attempted to use the resort credit, we were told that it was only for massages. However, this was not disclosed to us, nor written on the resort credit provided to us. At the price point we paid in comparison to other vacations, the lack of focused customer service, non willingness to help and/or compensate for the non delivery of a paid service is inexcusable. Further, most employees were consistently on their cell phone and “too consumed with their phone” to help. It truly is unfortunate as the property is beautiful along with the beach, but service was the worst we every experienced. This was our first and last time in the Dominican.
