This review is split into two parts, one for the room and one for the restaurant. The restaurant was the good part of the experience, with friendly staff who were happy to accommodate a late request for a table & the food was excellent and well priced. My room (room 12) was not great. There is no lock from the inside, just an external handle which doesn't turn to prevent entry without a key. The layout is odd, with a little corridor to the bathroom which whilst clean is still very worn and dated. There is also a nest full of baby birds directly outside of the single-glazed window, which would be fine for a bird-lover or somebody hard of hearing, but not great otherwise.

Great bar and restaurant, friendly staff

Very slow service for 4 coffees in the bar after we had checked out. Wood work in ensuite bathroom rotten. Stair carpet upto our 2nd floor room needed a good refresh

I stayed in room 12 which is in the attic. Sounded like someone was trying to get in to the room from the attic all night. Possibly no harm to get someone in to look at the

Lovely bar area buzzing with locals. Room was comfortable abd bed was excellent.

Bedroom radiator not working. Room Fan heater not working also. Had to visit reception go ask for another heater.

Staff were fine. Restaurant food was good as was continental breakfast Our room was disappointing. Water damaged ceiling not repaired, carpet dreadful, needed decorating. Bathroom fittings OK but surrounds/tiling needed replacing

Possibly one of the worst hotels I’ve been to in a long time! Literally terrible from the first minute. Arrived on Tuesday evening and had to call the reception staff who was miserable and had no personality at all. Was like I was inconveniencing him. Got the keys to room one and entered the room and it was like a homeless shelter. Marks on the carpet and walls. Cracks in the wall as well. Loud extractor fan going all day outside the window and painfully dire view of it. The bathroom was awful with a broken toilet seat and a shower which leaked and roasted you to death due to the thermostat not working. Told staff at reception about this and not a care in the world and weren’t interested at all. Nothing was fixed or rectified. Breakfast was pathetic and was the cheapest continental breakfast on the planet with a quarter cup of tea to wash it down. So many other problems but forget it, glad it’s over! Do not, under any circumstances go to this hotel. If you are planning to book this hotel, just go to a local homeless shelter, it will be better than this!

Great food

Lovely welcome, friendly, personable staff, comfortable beds and pillows. Excellent customer service at bar and restaurant.

When I arrived there wasn’t a member of staff at reception. I had to wait around 5 minutes before someone arrived. I was given the “penthouse suite” (room 12). Straight away when I opened the door an awful odour lingered around the room. The cleaners had obviously noticed the same thing and opened all the windows and turned the desk fan on prior to my arrival. The room itself could do with re-decorating, as there were chips of paint out of the doors, the cream carpets within the room were absolutely disgusting and could do with either a deep clean or ripping up completely. The bathroom had a very dated bath and showering wasn’t an option as they only had the head and no where you could hang up. I didn’t eat within the hotel as everything I’d experienced put me off. On a brighter note parking wasn’t an issue. But I would never stay here again.

comfortable room, slightly aged room with cracking paint, but well set out and comfy with nice finishes with cushions etc. Breakfast was a set continental - No choices, which let it down.

Complained about fan noise and heat of the room

This is a tired hotel which, on the day I visited (which was hot and therefore needed the windows open) was noisy from the bar and had no car parking (because the bar was busy). The bathroom only had a hand held shower and bathroom was also tired. Breakfast was continental only up to 9am and only available from 7:30am (not great if you are working).

Next to dorridge station. Nice and neat room. Good
