Super clean and fun place to stay. I enjoyed my time here!

I stayed in one of the individual cells and it was so much fun!! I highly recommend the tour! Simon did a terrific job touring us around! So much interesting history.

Stayed there for one nignt as solo traveler. A real cool place to stay. Great location. The staff are friendly. The free tour is interesting.

The staff were helpful with providing directions to where you can buy stuff. They gave a tour of the facility and it was fun to participate. They also have other activities you can do as a group depending on your length of stay there. It's not a 5 star accommodation but if you want adventure, go for it. It's also in the middle of downtown Ottawa, so it's close to many resources. It's a good place to do your research, if you don't count the constant movement. I think what clinched it for me was that I could leave my bags at the counter after checkout to go explore the city before catching my flight out. To cap it all, their complimentary breakfast is tasty nothing like the bland tasteless food usually served in hotels.

Everyone was super helpful. The gentleman that checked me in even carried my bag to the 7th floor for me.

Perfect for solo travel. There’s almost nothing to complain about unless you’re expecting a hotel room

It’s all fun and games until you get one guest who keeps talking loudly over the phone from 3AM to 4:30AM while smoking in his room /cell and EVERYONE suffers. The rooms are not ventilated properly and there are no sound insulation as the doors are just standard prison bars. I didn’t get any sleeps the two nights I stayed there. I either woke up from the sound people’s farts, or cigarette smoke or people watching videos on their phone on speaker, or talking loudly on their phone. At least in jail there are guards to keep the hall quiet and in order. Staff were nice and friendly and very accommodating. The reception tried to talk some sense into the man who are distributing everyone, but he didn’t listen. What are you going to do after that? Call the cops?

The rooms were small as expected, but there were large gaps at the bottom of the doors which were only covered by bars, meaning you could see into the hallway, and everyone else could see into your room. This meant you could hear everything that went on in the hallways and in the other rooms, which was worsened by the amount of construction going on directly outside my room. While the construction was only during the day, they left all the equipment outside my door, which I tripped on at night. The fan and the lamp by the bed in the room did not work and there was only one outlet. The only positive thing about this experience was the jail history, of which there was hardly any if you didn’t take the jail tour, which was only once a day so if you have a short stay scheduling becomes very difficult. Definitely not worth the $130 for a single room that I paid.

Staff is friendly and very helpful. Great atmosphere and unique place to stay. Easy parking option for a fee. Very well located. Included breakfast was appreciated.

The experience was Fantastic 10/10. Front desk were friendly and were helpful , when we explained someone had parked in our parking spot so we had to park in someone else's (I'm sure that was a real mess at the end of the day ). Breakfast was ample with fresh fruit , cereal, bagels hash browns eggs, and a decent coffee . The cell was clean , sheets were clean . Quiet time was to be 11 pm -9 am . Ding ding ding 2/10.......people were really loud talking ect in the hallways started at 4:30 am and no regard for people trying to sleep . Read the signs people and think of others , I would recommend this hostel for the experience but bring ear plugs

The kitchen, rooms, bathrooms and shower were always clean. A small fan was at the head of the bed and definitely a life saver for keeping things cool and the air moving. Parking was on site, code access only and felt safe. The on site breakfast hit the spot with fresh fruit options.

Nice experience, fun to sleep in an actual old prison. Could use some nor power outlet in the room though, to charge the phones.

Easy quick parking, clean areas and comfortable beds! Also such amazing staff the general manager is a sweetheart.
