The hotel is set in an idyllic and beautiful location, nestled near the top of a small village surrounded by vineyards. All the staff I spoke to were local, clearly very proud of the area, and exceptionally helpful and considerate throughout our stay.
The décor is fresh and contemporary while still retaining an old-world charm. The only negative was the lack of air conditioning, which was noticeable as temperatures were above 30°C during our visit. However, it was explained that, due to the building’s historic status, air conditioning is not permitted.
Breakfast was pleasant, and we enjoyed eating in the outdoor courtyard. We also had a lovely bottle of local Burgundy wine alongside a mixed charcuterie board in the hotel gardens.
We will definitely return on our journeys to and from Scotland.
