Beautiful resort, not overly crowded. Beautiful beach location. Great restaurants and food options. Service can definitely be improved at the pool bars, beach bars and restaurants. Lots of staff standing around and not helping.

The property is modern, clean, and visually impressive with strong amenities, but the overall experience was inconsistent and did not reflect a true luxury stay. Before arrival, I emailed requesting a simple birthday room setup and received no response. Check-in felt rushed and disorganized with unclear communication around deposits and payment methods. During the stay, we were approached by an events representative promoting a vacation club after clearly declining, which felt persistent. We also received unsolicited calls about checkout logistics despite not requesting assistance. Room service and billing had inconsistencies, including items said to be included but later charged. We also received an unrequested complimentary cheese/fruit platter and sparkling wine with no explanation. The pool was quiet and enjoyable, but the jacuzzi was not heated and matched pool temperature despite guest concerns. Breakfast was good, though the checkbook/tipping process felt transactional. Positive staff included poolside, spa, housekeeping, café, and taxi service teams who were friendly and professional. At checkout, unresolved billing issues carried over. Apple Pay repeatedly failed, and in front of other guests, the staff member assisting us (Melany) made a comment suggesting the issue “might be because of the amount,” which felt unprofessional. Overall, the property is beautiful, but front desk communication, checkout handling, and service inconsistencies impacted the stay.

Room was great; most rooms have a balcony with a soaking tub! Dinner options and entertainment was great. Outside activity concierge was great - helped us with rental car. Internal concierge not very helpful - did not introduce us to activities and amenities on the resort. Beach was quiet and location of resort was great but it is on the quiet side of the island if that’s your preference. Spa was just ok. We did a couples massage and got 20% off from Expedia booking! All in all we really enjoyed our stay!

The staff went above and beyond for us, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay at JOIA Iberostar! We're already looking forward to coming back.

Excellant new facilities for family vacation

even though its 'all inclusive', no one tells you a lot of the menu isn't included (even mediocre wine) until you get the bill. This happened over and over until you check out and get a shock. This hotel should not be all inclusive.

The breakfast buffet was amazing and the room that overlooked the ocean was the perfect stay!

The entire resort and our room were spotless. We especially loved the breakfast, delicious tropical drinks, and nachos on the beach. We never had any trouble getting loungers at the pool or beach. Perfect getaway! One note: there is not an ATM on the property and most of the taxis only take cash, so be prepared!

What an incredible resort! Everything was perfect.

The staff was amazing, very welcoming and helpful! We loved the breakfast too. The selection of fruits, proteins, and juices was vast and soooo good. Truly a relaxing four days!!

Wonderful property. Excellent breakfast, restaurants. Good service throughout stay. Lots of seating at pool available. Great location and beach area. Only negative is pools aren’t heated.
