Relived our first holiday away together some 42 years later as a birthday trip for my wife. We paid a modest price for our 4 day stay, but got what must be one of the best rooms in the hotel with a balcony and excellent views over the bay. The lady on reception could not have done more to make us welcome

The view from our room was beautiful as we overlooked Torquay and the bay! What a wonderful introduction to our holiday. The furnishings are dated but it also lends to the charm. The buffet breakfast was plentyful and guests are allowed to freeflow as needed. The only down side is that there is only steps to all of the rooms which was difficult for me. There also was no one to help carry items to the room.

1 night chat, fir mum and daughter, twin room on a very ground floor, steps for a 82 year old were unsafe. Hotels.com state the room came with room room items, we didn’t even have toilet paper !!! No soap, no cups in bathroom to wash our mouths out, I rang reception to ask for such items, no response. I went to reception and there was no one there... this was 3 times and as we were the furthest room away, I gave up !! The hotel looks old. The room was very dirty. Storage under bed, could not be used due to dust and dirt! Note: back bedrooms are on a train line that keeps we awake. Breakfast service was good, lovely guy who explained everything and was so polite - breakfast also good. It did what we needed, would o go back - afraid not whenyoi can’t even get toilet paper !!

The ‘faded Grandeur’ of the Corbyn, is a sign of times past. The Crittall windows and the 30 year old telephones, and it’s certainly ‘a bit rough around the edges’ I’d probably have felt a bit more at home if I’d had a few tattoos and taken up vaping! However the overall experience was novel and not unenjoyable. I believe it’s going to be knocked down in the next couple of years? Torquay will lose a ‘historic’ site.

On arrival girl on reception was very nice. Got to our room and it was awful. It was very dirty went and complained but nothing was done. We heard the place was being demolished but still taking guests through the summer charging full rates which is ridiculous. There was a tv but only 6 channels available and our room was not cleaned at all during our 3 night stay. Breakfast was adequate but on our first morning the milk was off. Would not visit this hotel again until it’s been rebuilt. If had not paid upfront I would have left and found something else.

In short. . . Rooms are small and very dirty. Breakfast of poor quality and small portions. Email sent to hotel management as no manager available at the time of stay. Not worth the money. Stayed in better 2 star hotels in third world countries.

In it's day it would have been very grand, sadly it is very outdated and needs a total overhaul. We had a lovely seaview but the room was so hot. The bed was not comfortable. The water took an age to come through but it was nice and hot. Someone with mobility issues would struggle to get in and out of the bath as there were no handles and the bath was very high. Breakfast was very nice but there was only two members of staff to look after a lot of guests. The first morning we waited over half an hour for our breakfast. The juice and the bread ran out countless times both mornings we were there.

The hotel although clean is looking very tired. The beds are old and soft and the rooms are noisy at night. I heard people going in out of their rooms all night and the outside noises as well. The hotel has so much potential but falls short in a number of ways.

Clean and friendly hotel a short walk from Torquay station and with frequent bus services to town centre and local towns. Friendly service although hotel was quiet. Good value for money and would use the hotel again on another break. One of the better single rooms I have stayed in. Came with a balcony from which there was a great view across the bay towards Torquay Harbour. Well stocked bar and breakfast was more than acceptable, especially considering the rate.

Heating didn't work, staff very helpful and put 2 heaters in, one clicked it sparked blue - left it off. People next door had tv far too loud, staff rang them and was turned off. Our tv only had sound, no picture. Window was very drafty due to a huge gap

It was a lovely hotel, I would stay here again, not very well sign posted, so had to phone to find it, other than that, easy parking, easy to walk to the harbour.

Pleasant staff but the room was terrible, dark and dingy and the bed was uncomfortable. I had to wait 20 minutes for hot water for the shower which was also useless. This hotel needs major renovation and in my opinion, was way too expensive for the room i recieved.

A fabulous position. Good friendly staff. Do a very good breakfast. The rooms and hotel are showing their age,and is in need of an upgrade. Limited evening meal choices. Parking at the hotel is good.
