— What You Can Expect —

Located about 40 minutes by car from the Sanxia urban area, the Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area spans an elevation of 300 to 1700 meters. The area remains cool and moist throughout the year, nurturing a rich fern ecosystem, including the environmentally sensitive "Cycad Fern." In the past, small-scale logging occurred here, but today, the well-organized plantations stand as a testament to that history. The area is teeming with a variety of birds, amphibians, and butterflies, with species like the rare White-throated Laughingthrush and the Chestnut-bellied Tit, making it a key bird-watching location. Each December, the area is famous for its stunning red maple leaves, earning the reputation of "Taiwan's Most Beautiful Low-Altitude Maple Red."

At the end of the hiking trail, the Full Moon Waterfall and Virgin Waterfall are two of the area's most scenic attractions. From the Full Moon Bridge, look up to see a massive stone wall over 10 meters high, which partially covers the top of the Full Moon Waterfall. The waterfall plunges dramatically downward, creating a magnificent sight. The Virgin Waterfall, in contrast, is more gentle and graceful. On sunny days, light and shadows play across the waterfall, often creating a rainbow-like display.

The total length from the original visitor center to the Virgin Falls via the Satsang Bridge is about 900 meters. The trail is mainly paved with stones, riprap slabs, PC stones, and colored embossed floors, and wooden railings and imitation pine railings are used as safety guardrails.

There is a large stone wall in front of Manwolgyuan Waterfall, which covers the upper end of the waterfall and rushes down like a chain of water. On the way to Manwolgyuan Waterfall, there is a "Manwolgyuan Bridge", where you can already hear the sound of the waterfall. The sound of water is like a warning that the waterfall is about to arrive! There is a "waterfall viewing pavilion" next to the waterfall, where you can have a panoramic view of the waterfall.
