The reception staff are very friendly. There is a Woolies Metro about a block away, liquor shops even closer, and a proper pub 2 blocks. A stones throw from Central Station and the city. I have stayed here a few times.

Clean and Cozy and Cheap and Cheerful. We found it value-for-money - excellent location for us (next to train / bus / tram stations); well within our two-person budget. CAVEAT: there is NO elevator, and all rooms are up at least one flight of stairs (others up two or three). ok for us, as we are fit and did not have a lot of baggage this time.

Cheapest room I could find in central Sydney, can’t complain. Clean sheets and en-suite. Well located next to central for the day trips I had to take and the area is well lit for coming back at night. Good for solo traveller. Reception staff kindly allowed me to store my bags and use the bathroom to get changed when I arrived early in the day.

The reception desk was unattended at the time of check in (4pm) and required a quick phone call to staff who are always onsite. I stayed in a 'Standard Single Ensuite Room'. Reasonably priced (perhaps a sale price?) Extremely clean room and bathroom. Room had air-conditioning/heating, kettle, TV, bath towel & foot mat, soap, plate, bowl and cutlery, wardrobe with clothes hangars. Window could be opened a little, enough for small breeze to get in, but no flyscreen on window. *Keep in mind, the bathroom is very small. A shared toilet/shower room. Very narrow space to shower when shower curtain is in use. Toilet floor may need to be dried after shower. Bathroom door does not fully seal closed, so make sure steam does not get out to set off fire alarm. There is no towel rack, which is a small inconvenience. No bathroom sink, only sink in main room. *The walls are very thin. Guests in next room and upstairs made noise all night. Bring earplugs for light sleepers or perhaps have the A/C turned on at night. Remember, this property does not have an elevator. All rooms are upstairs. Perfect location, 5 minute walk to Central train station, trams and buses. I will stay again.

Unfortunately , the hotel guest above my room was noisy between 22:00-midnight then 07:00-08:00. I called reception on two separate occasions. In hind-site, I should of asked to move rooms after night one. I believe the staff could have monitored room 37's guest behaviour instead of me contacting reception. I am a sleep deprived guest. the corridors could have improved noise reduction. Showers need a facelift.

The general treatment towards guests is like a charity-free-work instead of a consumer who pays for a service. Although staff attend your requests, it is highly noticeable the inconvenience for supporting the guest’s need, resulting in very poor outcomes. It is extremely expensive considering the premises, its functionality and cleanliness. Apart for making the bed (fresh linen) and “kindof” cleaning the sink/toilet, the accumulated dust in walls, windows, carpets, floors and furniture show the poor sanitation in rooms and common areas.

This hotel fell far below expectations. There were no basic bathroom amenities in the room — shampoo was only provided if you asked at the front desk, and there was no conditioner. The building has no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. Only one old‑style key was issued, and if you forget it, you’re locked out with no staff around to help. When we arrived at 1:30pm, a sign on the door told us to call a local number to check in, which we couldn’t do, so we waited about 15 minutes until someone happened to return. The area felt rundown, with warning signs about robberies and homeless individuals outside. Extra charges were excessive, including a $1,700 fine if steam from the shower triggers the fire alarm and $40 per hour for late checkout. The beds were also extremely soft with no support. The location is the only positive, but it doesn’t make up for the outdated facilities, lack of service, and overall poor value. I recommend staying elsewhere.
