What Guests Say About Their Stay

I’d been curious to visit Coober Pedy for quite some time and wanted to stay in an authentic (but comfortable!) dugout. I looked at a few different places and finally settled on a double deluxe room at the Underground Motel. It was the perfect mix of feeling like a real dugout with a small kitchen, bathroom, wi-fi, aircon, hot water etc. The owners are a friendly couple, chatty and welcoming. And very kindly collected me from the airport when I arrived and dropped me off in town ahead of the evening Greyhound bus to Port Augusta.

Very friendly host, who organised our room earlier, as we'd been on the overnight bus! Great 'cave' room, with good, clean and comfortable beds. Great shower. Use of kitchen. Laundry available. Definitely recommend!

We have stayed twice now. Always extremely clean and we love the guest facilities. The guest kitchen is very handy, and as a family we love the sheltered outdoor space with a cubby house and bbq. Our go to place when staying in Coober Pedy now.

We stayed in a an underground room also known as a dugout in an opal mining town. The roo had rudimentary tea and coffee making facilities. We were expected to wash our dishes etc in a plastic bowl, there was no sink except in the bathroom. The decor was old ,the linen looked dated and dirty. There was a layer of dust on the floor. There were also ants on the floor..The furniture was old and the room smelt..It just looks like it could do with a makeover..
