Astor Garden Hotel

The hotel is very nice and in a beautiful area. Carpets and rooms smell a little like cigarettes and it is not well staffed for a hotel of this caliber — ie nobody at front desk, nobody answers phone, take your own luggage, grouchy towel ladies, etc. if you’re okay with that, which I was, this place was great.

The property was very nice, but most of the staff we unhelpful and condescending when they spoke to you. Some staff also acted as if they didn’t care. Also, we had problems with the amenities in the rooms including no iron or ironing board (staff sent us on a wild goose case to find one instead of bringing one to our room). We need to weigh our luggage for our flight and both scales in each of our rooms did not work and we did not want to deal with the staff.

At the risk of sounding snotty, this is not a 5 star hotel on most international standards. The thing that bugged me the most was the temperature of the hotel in the hottest season of year. Not only were lobbys and elevators kept just cool enough not to be considered hot, the rooms didn’t allow adjustment. We should have freedom to keep the room as cold as we want. The other disappointment was the beach - no private beach for the hotel, and the facilities at the beach were just okay. Villa Chinka looked more 5-star with private beach, good quality bars, etc. It made Astor Garden seem worse even though it is meant to be 5 star as well. The hallways were pretty dirty as well. Aside from these points, it was good overall.

Beautiful hotel, very clean, big rooms, comfortable bed, pillows should be changed, breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from. Will definitely visit again. Would be nice to have some entertainment at night, but it was the end of the season.

The interior design of the hotel and the room were gorgeous, truly a 5* experience. The pool was large and the sun loungers at the beach sufficient, the restaurants around the hotel (Goldfish, MORE Beach, The Bay) served quality food at reasonable prices. But that’s where the 5* rating for the hotel ends! The service and most of the personnel were disappointing and do not in any way meet 5* expectations! Rude restaurant staff where even when spoken in Bulgarian they do not acknowledge you at all; the breakfast was the same every day of the week apart from fried mushrooms alternated with cauliflower! Despite it being from 7:30 - 10:30, if you went at 10 you wouldn’t find much (I heard many complaints about no bread left, or the pancake machine being switched off early). Most of the staff at reception were just as equally unhelpful and rude - we had arrived early due to the time of our flight and were welcomed by “Yeah, you are quite early” by one of the females at reception. Instead, you should say to your guests “That’s not a problem, you may still use our pool and beach facilities”. On top of that, we didn’t check in until around 16:30 due to “Covid procedures”! Another day we had asked a girl at reception to call us a taxi, she called once, said the operator couldn’t find one and told us to call one ourselves. Then she was too busy whispering and laughing with another receptionist right in front of us, disgusting and totally unprofessional! The nicest staff was the cleaner!

Beautiful lounge, comfortable and clean rooms, nice beaches nearby.

We loved our stay at Astor Garden. Our room was clean and spacious, and we loved our view from the balcony. Easy walk to the beach and the staff was friendly!

It was amazing. Unfortunately there are not family suites for booking but rooms only.
