Mandarin Oriental hotels always set a high standard and this Shanghai property was excellent. Staff were amazing and so polite and helpful. I stayed in a club room and this was spacious and well appointed. Only one draw back was the lack of English TV channels. The complementary toiletries were a bit disappointing. I used the fitness suite and this was excellent- nice spa area as well. Food was generally good especially the breakfast.

Would be the worst 5 star hotel we have ever stayed in. Staff disinterested from arrival to departure. Rooms are small, old and desperately in need of renovation as well as are the public areas and F&B outlets. International hotel companies will have endless standards and policies & procedures as well as detailed audits by their HQ and mystery guest audits etc - hard to believe not deflagged from the network. Then surprised to see the actual hotel GM is also the MO Area VP Ops for China.

I think this may have been the best hotel stay of my life. The staff were incredibly accommodating, helpful and welcoming throughout the hotel. We upgraded our room on arrival to facilitate early entry (we had an early arrival to Shanghai) and we were so glad we did. The Club level breakfast is 12/10 and we loved prepping ourselves for the day there every morning. The room was large and comfortable with all necessary (and extra) amenities. We had a fabulous view of The Bund as well! We also visited the pool which is lovely, and enjoyed the Michelin experience at one of the restaurants in the hotel as well. The location is a little bit away from walkable options for food, drinks and coffee but everything is accessible via public transport or very affordable taxi. Thank you for your hospitality!
