Muri Beach Club Hotel was amazing from the staff to the facilities. It was very quiet even though it was fully booked with only 30 rooms, and adults only makes it very peaceful. The free daily cocktail and canapés was also appreciated.

Politeness and respect are highly valued. A simple greeting like "Kia Orana" (hello) goes a long way. Islanders are generally relaxed and friendly, but it's important to be mindful of their customs, such as dressing modestly when visiting villages or churches – covering shoulders and knees is a good practice. Showing appreciation for their culture and environment will be met with genuine warmth and hospitality. When visiting significant cultural sites or places of worship, such as the Cook Islands Christian Church, it's essential to observe proper etiquette. Always ask permission before taking photographs of people, and be mindful of your volume. During church services, which are often open to visitors, dress respectfully and participate quietly. In more commercial settings, like markets or shops, a friendly demeanour and a willingness to engage in polite conversation are appreciated. Getting to Cook Islands and Getting Around

For travellers from the Philippines dreaming of a South Pacific escape, reaching the Cook Islands involves a journey that, while requiring a bit of planning, opens the door to unparalleled tropical beauty. Direct flights from Manila (NAIA) or other major Philippinesn airports to the Cook Islands are not typically available, meaning a layover, most commonly in Auckland, New Zealand, is usually necessary. Airlines such as Air New Zealand frequently service this route, connecting passengers from the Philippines to Rarotonga International Airport (RAR). The total travel time, including layovers, can range from approximately 15 to 25 hours, depending on the connection. It's advisable to book flight tickets well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, to secure the best fares. Once you arrive in the Cook Islands, getting around is part of the island experience. Rarotonga, the main island, is serviced by a reliable public bus system that circles the island in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. This is an economical and convenient way to explore the coastal areas and access various attractions. For more flexibility, renting a car or a scooter is highly recommended, allowing you to venture off the main road and discover hidden coves and viewpoints at your own pace. On Aitutaki, the island is smaller, and renting a scooter or car is the most practical way to explore its scenic beauty and access its famous lagoon departure points. The best time to visit the Cook Islands from the Philippines generally falls within the dry season, which runs from May to October. During these months, you can expect sunny days, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities, beach relaxation, and exploring the islands' natural wonders. This period also coincides with peak tourist season, so expect higher prices for flights and accommodation. The wet season, from November to April, brings warmer temperatures and higher humidity, with a greater chance of tropical showers, though these are often short-lived. This period can offer lower prices and fewer crowds, appealing to budget-conscious travellers. Before you depart from the Philippines, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD), which is widely accepted across the islands. While ATMs are available in Rarotonga and Aitutaki, it's wise to carry some cash, especially if you plan to visit outer islands. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival is recommended for staying connected, with options available at the airport or in town. Essential apps to consider include offline maps, a currency converter, and the Traveloka app for managing your bookings. Beyond your passport, ensure you have copies of important documents like flight and hotel reservations.

Muri Beach Club Hotel was amazing from the staff to the facilities. It was very quiet even though it was fully booked with only 30 rooms, and adults only makes it very peaceful. The free daily cocktail and canapés was also appreciated.
