We chose this hotel for its close proximity to the dive shop we used . Only 11 rooms with a nice pool and lovely lush vegetation on the back side .We even saw a toucan right at the pool as well as many other birds ! The only fly in the ointment for us was our air conditioner seemed to have a mind of it's own . It did work but started running water out of the unit inside our room and right over my nightstand which soaked my phone and kindle . All good in the end !

Hotel Margarita had an amazing vibe, it was blending with nature perfectly. Our room has a nice glass wall facing trees and forests. Every morning a very handsome woodpecker would come and curiously check us, it was really unique. The pool was nice, the staff was super polite and helpful, breakfast was nice and quite filling (fruits, coffee and juice on top of your main option.). The only main disadvantage was the cleanness of our room. We found hair in the pillows and bed sheets which made us believe it is from the previous people. We asked the first day to have our linens changed, and we found again hair over them. This made us a bit sceptical of the cleanness, plus the bathroom mirror had dorst stamps when we entered. The bathroom also had what looked like a water leakage from the bathtub to the floor, which was giving an unpleasant odour in the bathroom in the morning. If these things were fixed, it would really be 5/5, a real paradise experience!!

This lovely hotel, in the tiny, unpretentious village of Drake Bay, was wonderful. I am an amateur wildlife photographer. The manager gave me Room 1, with an enormous window that looks out onto a guarumo tree. In this tree arrived, in turn, a toucan, a pair of aracaris, tanagers, tityrus, caracaras, golden-naped woodpeckers, multiple iguanas, hummingbirds - it was simply incredible. I took the best pictures I've ever taken. The pool and the bar are nice, and everyone is friendly. Just one thing: you will be waking up early. The woodpeckers and howler monkeys will take care of that.

The place is really nice, there are no dinning or restaurant options on the hotel but you can order breakfast. The only negative aspect I can tell is that there was an odor coming out of the bathroom that sometimes was bad.

When we arrived Mauricio greeted us, helped us check in, and also upgraded our room to the second level for free. The room is super big and clean. There’s a balcony and from it you can see/hear monkeys, macaws, parrots, iguanas, and so many more animals. We were also able to get reservations to Corcovado National Park through the person at the reception desk. At the end of the trip we were also able to get reception to call us a taxi within 5 minutes of needing it. It was a lovely hotel with friendly staff too.

There are many options for a luxury stay at Bahia Drake, which this is not a luxury place. It is clean, safe, and pool is great at end of hot day. It is excellent at a reasonable price point. It is not luxury but that’s not why we were here.

There was some confusion at check-in which made it a long process after 36 hours of flying. The first night we were exhausted but woken up by loud motorcycles circling at 2:30am. Otherwise everything was great. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. Bed was comfortable and room was nice. Pool was a nice benefit. The filtered water was nice to have.

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel Margarita. We had them (Alberto) book our tours and found that if you pay cash (dollars or colones) you save some money on your tours. We did the snorkeling (well worth the money!) - 4 different snorkeling stops, an island stop and a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant. Corcovado Park tour - make sure and take shoes to get wet getting in and out of the boat, as well as shoes to wear while touring the park (they provide a lunch at the part and you are not allowed to wear your hiking shoes in the facility). And the surprise wonderful tour that we took was horseback riding! The horses turned into a river and actually walked in and out of the river - your feet get wet often (very nice as it cools you down), you then hike a little bit to a wonderful waterfall - wear your suit! You get to swim and it is SO refreshing! As far as the hotel, we loved the pool, room, and the location! Our room had a great deck and so many beautiful birds were constantly out there on the nearby trees - download the app Merlin - it will identify birds by their call. The hotel is a short walk to the boat pickup for tours, etc. and just around the corner from the row of awesome restaurants in Drake Bay. We ate at a different place every meal and loved all of them! Overall, we loved everything about our stay at Hotel Margarita!
