El Beaterio

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and the air conditioning was amazing! I loved the patio outside of our room.

This is an interesting and well appointed little boutique hotel at the quiet end of the Colonial District, comfortably furnished and with very pleasant staff. The garden is especially delightful. While the square opposite is quite busy and even noisy during the daytime, it is relatively quiet at night. From the point of view of security, we never felt uncomfortable walking in our neighborhood.

Clean, comfortable, quiet room in a charmimg 16th century Beaterio located perfectly in the Colonial Zone. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast good. Will stay again.

El Beaterio is my Go-To hotel whenever i stay in Zona colonial. Centrally located, walk to all the main attractions in the Old town: upscale restaurant literally in the same block! Tons of other dining options, bars, nice park where locals gather in the evening right across the street. Receptionist Pierre is super friendly and nice! Shows you everything, makes sure you know where everything is, what hours breakfast is etc. Hotel itself is such a historical jewel! You feel like you enter the Time Machine: lobby, breakfast area, staircase and room itself! I’m a history buff, so i also love how they have pictures everywhere and a little history written about the old times! The only thing I’d mention is to be careful when walking up to the second floor, it’s a bit slipper on top when it rains. Maybe owners will see this review and put a rubber mat or something else there as i almost slipped and fall, especially in the evening coming back after a few drinks :) Otherwise, don’t think twice and book this hotel because you won’t find better value in the area for your money!

Only good is historic architecture at hotel. No restaurant, no bar, nothing in the hotel... if you want to sleep with fan and air conditioner that doesn't work, stay here...they gave us an option of another room second night, but air conditioner also didn't get cold... we have to take cold shower to sleep!!! never again!!!

Beautiful colonial property in the city center. Quiet location, good for a couple of nights. We like staying at these small boutique style hotels, as the staff tends to interact with the guests. They ask they typical questions, where we are from, what are our plans for the day, make recommendations, etc... That never happened here. Staff did their job, but they were cold. They did their best to answer any questions we may have had, but did not engage otherwise.

Magical little place perfect for a romantic getaway. Good breakfast included and lovely terrace for happy hour

Great experience in the heart of old-town! Friendly place, and quiet location on a small side street. Shower was a bit cramped but worked fine.

The location is great - the building beautiful. However my room was the closest to the kitchen and reception desk and the sound proofing almost inexistant. I coule hear all the kitchen noise from my bed. Quite unpleasant especially the bed was soooo comfy - too bad i couldnt enjoy it to the fullest

There is a Road construction in front of the hotel. They never said that until the day I came, because they send me instructions and I had to walk a few meters. It is fine but I would like to know it before.

José made our stay more comfortable, as we asked to change rooms since our original room had some mold and I was having a hard time sleeping. Jose accommodated us to a different room and I slept great. It’s a really old building (like 300+ years old) so it was not surprising that there was some moisture, since Santo Domingo is so humid. The Beaterio has a fascinating history and is quite peaceful and quiet.

amazing location right in colonial zone. room is small but full of charm! might need to watch out for mosquitos if you stay on the ground floor, ;) super friendly staff - would recommend to anyone visiting Santo Domingo!
