Just checked out of the Old Winter Palace, a quietly dignified landmark built in 1886 for British aristocrats wintering in Luxor. Its faded grandeur still lingers—shaded colonnades, clipped gardens, and that peculiar hush found only in places touched by history. Howard Carter was staying here when news broke of Tutankhamun’s tomb; the echoes of that moment still seem to drift through the high shutters and marble halls. A retreat not of excess, but of atmosphere.

I loved the Pavillion Winter! It was one of the highlights of my trip. The service was exceptional. The front desk was friendly and available, and they helped with all of my questions and requests. The room service menu and quality of food was the best -- even better than the restaurant. The breakfast was great. The service at all of the restaurants was wonderful. I loved the pool and the gardens. I took a day of rest after my flight to Luxor in the morning and was so thankful I got the opportunity to spend an afternoon lounging at the pool and exploring the gardens. The rooms could use renovation, but overall they are very good and large, and I had a balcony overlooking the gardens. I absolutely loved Luxor and highly recommend this hotel.

Gardens where beautiful, but we discovered that the gardens are part of a different hotel, “Winter Palace” that’s the nice hotel, our hotel “Winter Pavillion” was really hard to find because there is no sign on the street, it’s just a little alleyway next to Winter Palace, we had to pay extra to be able to use the facilities and dining in the Winter Palace, nice place, if you have to chose, do the Winter Palace not the Winter Pavillion, those are older, ill maintained, unkept rooms…

Whilst I have obviously not stayed at every hotel in Luxor this has to be one of if not the nicest hotel in the City. If you have the chance eat at the 1886, I have eaten at 3 and 4 star restaurants in London and would easily put this on a similar level but at a fraction of the price. All the staff go out of there way to help and always with a great smile on their face

The hotel is dated. I booked a queen bed and they gave me two twin beds. The beds are uncomfortable. The entire room is very old, urgently needing update. The breakfast has limited options. It does not meet the international standard that they advertised. It is in a good location of town, walking distance to good restaurant and luxor museum.

Absolutely wonderful hotel experience! Every staff member—from the front desk to housekeeping to the bar and restaurant team—was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The front desk always greeted me with a smile, housekeeping kept everything spotless, and room service was fast, efficient, and delicious. Even the poolside service was on point! The breakfast bar and buffet were also fantastic—delicious, fresh, and with a great variety each morning. This was hands-down my best hotel stay in Egypt. The only small note is that some of the furniture in the pavilion/common areas is a bit dated, but it didn’t take away from the overall five-star experience. I would definitely stay here again.

The Pavilion shares the same facilities as the well known the Winter Palace Hotel. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Thinking back to the breakfast in the beautiful garden added a needed sense of peace in an area that often had lots of salesmen. The hotel is also conveniently located near Luxor Temple. I had stayed here the first time I went to Luxor, I stayed here again, and would stay here if I went to Luxor again.

An absolutely first-rate hotel, with extraordinarily helpful and well-trained staff. Wonderful, large, rooms and the ability to access the facilities of the Winter Palace, a truly "grand hotel." What a safe haven and retreat from the glorious but chaotic rest of the city!
