Customer service was absolutely poor. I was waiting at the counter while staff were talking about vouchers with their backs turned to me. I pressed the bell to get their attention, but I was totally ignored. Eventually, I got checked in, and this time the room was better than last, but it still didn't have a mixer tap, so that was inconvenient. I'm assuming all rooms are like this and would say they all definitely need an upgrade.

The room wasn't cleaned properly; there were spider webs hanging everywhere. The hot and cold water taps were separate; it would have been ideal to have a mixer tap. It definitely needs updating. It was noisy, so I couldn't get good rest.

The staff were courteous but thin on the ground. Dinner booked for 6pm we ended up waiting an hour and a half for our main course. There were only 15 people in the dining room. The starters were reduced to a choice of 2 at the start. These arrived luke warm. By the time we got to desert 2 hours later my choice was no longer available. The standard of food served was poor. Some people left the dining room asked for refund and ordered a deliveroo which did arrive quicker than some people's mains. The staff were doing their best but everyone believed this was a management issue.

Main issue was it was quite cold and they had not turned the heating on in rooms. Got several excuses, goes on for 4 hours then off for 4 hours, only just got HQs permission to turn it on, will take some time, but in 2 days we had 0 heating. No spare bedding in room, eventually after lots of complaining they found one rather tired looking fleece blanket for our twin room.

Easy parking. Friendly guy on reception on arrival and helpful lady when we left. Neither agreed with the lady in charge of the breakfast room about the times for breakfast though! There was a bit of a delay getting our key (I think our room had been changed at the last moment to accommodate someone who couldn't make the stairs). We had to ask how to use the electrical items (slot for key card on wall). Only one set of towels, but we were only staying a night, Shower temp a bit poor, though the sink tap was scalding. No heating in bathroom, so we left the door open after we went to bed to allow the warm air in there. Felt a bit "corporate" for us but it was a very reasonable price.

Hotel was very clean, easy to park. I am asthmatic and find some cleaning products aggrevate me so I messaged and asked if they could leave a window open for the room to air which they kindly did. The one thing that spoilt it for me was when I went to Reception and asked if I could have either another duvet or mattress topper that I could put under the sheet due to me having metal work in my back and finding the bed a little firm, I was told they didn't have any spare, which I find very hard to believe. My room was on the ground floor round the side of the hotel, it was lovely and quiet.

The location and general appearance of the hotel is nice. We had a room designated for clients with dogs which I suspect impacted on our experience. Whilst the surcharge for our dog was comparatively competitive, that’s really where it ended. The area of the hotel allocated to dog owners is very much in need of refurbishment and redecoration. The walls, doors, flooring covering were generally grubby and marked. During the course of our stay (3nights), we had experience of 3 different rooms. The facilities across the three rooms differed as did the layout. The first two had negligible hot running water, hot water just trickled from the taps and there was insufficient pressure to get the hot water supply up the bath shower tubing to the shower head. The first room was incredibly small compared with the second, there was now sink plug and the vinyl flooring didn’t cover the entirety of the floor. The silicone sealant around the bathroom in need of renewal. Our 3rd and final room did have hot water and at a reasonable pressure but the flooring, especially the bathroom, was incredibly badly marked and had holes in the vinyl. Similar to the first room, it was narrow in parts making it cramped especially given there was an extra single bed in it. The general feeling was that this area was not anywhere near as well maintained as the rest of the hotel albeit we never saw the rooms elsewhere, a shame when you are charged a surcharge for having a dog.

We booked for 2 nights. Room was very small, no towel rails to hang towels in bathroom so had to hang them on chairs in room. Door to bathroom didn’t close properly! We could have moved rooms but guy on desk said the only room available was £20 more! We had to tune TV in as it wasn’t set up on channels! We’ve stayed there before and our stay was good. Having said all that the staff were all lovely apart from the guy on check-in. He has no customer service skills whatsoever!
