Characterful, well appointed room. Very comfortable and homely. Great food in the restaurant, both for an evening meal and breakfast.

Staff were all lovely. Room was really nice, the children loved the little touches in their room. Food was outstanding

Staff were brilliant and friendly especially Franky who was great with the kids making them feel welcome. The family room was excellent, was a bonus that the kids got a separate room to themsleves, was clean and furnished in keeping with the Inn with great facilites in the room. Breakfast was excellent too with a greay selection to choose from.

Fabulous room, large, warm room (during a cold snap - hate entering a freezing hotel room), beautifully decorated, really friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, won't be staying anywhere else!

We have stayed here several times and have rated it highly. This visit the welcome from Steve and female staff was as warm as usual but not from the male bars manager who showed no engagement. My first night i had an excellent meal. i also had several pints of an ale recommended by the bar man. The bedroom was up kite stairs which were very awkward for an 85 year old with limited mobility and had to resort to going up on my hands and knees. During the night i had an upset stomach which caused me to have the runs all night. The following morning I was ignored by the male bar manager who was eating a sandwich and engaged in looking at a small computer screen. I mentioned to him the terrible night I had and that my lack of mobility made the stairs difficult. He put my uncomfortable night down to the water. i found this uncaring and dismissive and there was no offer to change my room to an available ground floor one. i went all day without anything to eat and could not enjoy the day planned as i needed to use a lavatory frequently. The following morning i had breakfast and asked the female manager on duty if Steve was around but sadly he was not. I explained to the manageress my experience of the two nights and she was reassuringly sympathetic and wanted to see if she could change my room. i had only one more night and decided i would leave it. That evening i enjoyed a superb meal. The attitude of the male manager marred my experience despite kind efforts of other staff.

Everything is superb about this establishment.

A superb property with all you could want for a stay in the country near to Richmond. We had an amazing bedroom in the attached cottage.

Beautiful, spotlessly clean room, tastefully furnished and very comfortable bed. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the dinner and breakfast were delicious.

Read reviews on this place before and decided to do an overnight for our wedding anniversary. Fantastic quirky place. Each room with horsey theme and named after race horses, very clean witj fluffy towels and robes even curly wirly to have with your coffee. Hair dryer iron and ironing board . Lovely breakfast great choice on menu. All staff attentive and friendly. Lovely anniversay stay, thank you all we will come again

The ‘exceptional’ rating swayed our decision to stay but room we were allocated was very small for the price we paid. The room was not in the hotel but in a house along the road. There appeared to be no security measures in place and the main door was left open all evening for anyone to walk in. Furthermore, despite its price, and the warm evening, they didn’t have fans for the rooms; apparently they had all broken or been stolen! Overall a good hotel but I think exceptional is a misnomer.
