Included breakfast was good. Bedroom was clean, as was the bathroom. Had very little interaction with staff besides table server who was very good.
Good location, on bus route in and out of city. Busy road outside. Didn't need parking, can't comment. Good value for money.

This is a great value hotel, it’s an old building so the rooms aren’t modern but they are spotlessly clean, breakfast is excellent, a selection of fruit and cereal with a menu of hot food cooked to order. I hope too many people don’t read this as the next time I come to York for the races, for which it’s a 20 minute walk, I’ll be hoping to book here again.

The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great with loads of choice. The house itself is in a good location and is walkable in around 15 minutes to the town centre. The decor in the rooms is very dated though and the furniture is a little worn. Overall it was good value though and we enjoyed our first time in York.

The room was nice and clean, bed was firm but comfortable. We had an issue with our first room where we weren't able to open the windows, but the staff were very helpful by allowing us to go to another room. Only suggestion I'd have would be getting smart tvs, but obviously thats not a necessity and oberlal had a wondeful stay!

Clean room. Friendly staff (even helped me when I left my phone charger after we checked out!). Lovely area to stay at - very close to the centre.
Would definitely stay again and hugely recommend the Holmwood House Hotel.

We stayed one night for a weekend away in york. Was very impressed with how friendly and attentive the staff were and the breakfast the next day was very nice!. Although the room being a little dated, it was very spacious and warm, with everything you needed, plus more than enough beverages at hand. I also found the bed to be quite comfy if not a little bouncy. Parking on site was £10 for the duration of our stay,, although space is limited and got full towards the end of the day. We walked into town which took about 20 mins and is a pretty straight path to follow. The only negative aboit our stay was hearing another couple arguing in another room, but no fault of the hotel. Will deffo be using again when next visiting as was much better priced than most hotels near to town

We had a lovely room on the second floor. It was clean with the essentials.
The breakfast...First class. The cooks and waitresses were fantastic and the food. Epic. Would rate people to stay here always.
The only tiny gripe was the cost of the car park and the toilet seat was broken.
All in all. If you go to York, stay here :)

Nice little B&B within walking distance to the city centre.
This was a convenient location with onsite parking available.
The room was spacious and comfortable for the most part although our bed was very creaky so maybe the mattress or base needs replacing.
Shower was excellent and the breakfast was good, recommended!

Walking distance to train station and city... good location.
Property itself is a little tired, curtains fell down when we tried to pull them across in our room.
5 flights of stairs to the room, and 6 down to breakfast, no lift.
Staff friendly and attentive in the breakfast room and a decent but basic breakfast.

The room was awful!! The girl on reception was lovely and made some repairs while we were out on Saturday but I did not expect toilet seat that didnt fit and a WC that moved when you sat on it and black mould in the bathroom! The curtains didnt have enough rings, bedside lights didnt work and the electrics were mainly on an extension lead that I very much doubt had been Pat tested! Should have all been fixed before the room was let!
