We had a lovely stay at Horsley Lodge! The food was absolutely excellent, beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The views from the property were truly stunning and made for such a relaxing atmosphere. The room itself was clean and comfortable, though the bedding and air in the room had a slightly closed-up scent, as if they hadn’t been aired for a while. It wasn’t a major issue, just something we noticed. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

I don’t usually give feedback but a few things stood out sadly. The postcode took us up the road and the lodge on site is not sign posted so had to get out and ask. There was water pouring through the electrics in the ceiling in the kitchen when we arrive so had to wait whist it was sorted and a frying pan was left on the floor to collect water for the drip for the duration of the trip. The bed is two separate beds pushed together and a really uncomfortable hard lump in the middle! Beds were not comfy and quite small so feet were just over the edge a lot of the time. The light in sauna couldn’t turn on as buttons were missing. The tv signal was terrible and not a smart tv. One of the complimentary bottles of water had been opened and 1/3 empty which was odd so we couldn’t drink it leaving only one sparkling and was late when we noticed so we didn’t have water. There was a party below us with loud music/ beat till midnight. We never normally care about this but it was like it was next door and we had a long drive to get there. A window was left open so the lodge/bedroom was really cold when we arrived. We were a bit disappointed as would have liked to have come back one day. On a positive note- the food was good, the lodge looks beautiful, the staff are really friendly and the club is nice.

We booked this stay spontaneously Sunday morning and by 1pm Sunday we were being shown to our room. The hotel was clean and the views surrounding the hotel are lovely. The only issue we had was our long wait for food in the evening, but when we had nothing else to do but go to bed we didn’t mind too much. The breakfast in the morning which was included was one of the best we have had at a hotel. Made even better by being able to sit outside and take in the views.

We booked the Lancaster Suite expecting a luxurious stay, but were extremely disappointed. The "suite" was actually a cramped loft room with a sofa and two tiny Velux windows, making it unbearably hot. Access involved climbing two steep staircases, and I needed help from bar staff just to get our suitcase up. The room had uneven floors, and the bathroom was small, claustrophobic, with dirty grout and a filthy vent that looked untouched for years. Dinner service was forgetful; we were halfway through our main course before the water we requested arrived. The bar toilet facilities were shockingly dirty, which was unacceptable. At breakfast, we were told by reception that it was included in our booking. We ordered from the standard menu, but what we received was incorrect—white toast instead of brown, and cottage cheese instead of cream cheese. We didn’t complain at the time. However, during checkout we were unexpectedly charged £14 for breakfast, being told only one drink and one item were included—something never mentioned by staff. Reception blamed the servers, despite my prior inquiry. I paid without a scene but skipped golf and left disappointed. The website speaks of a “haven of sophistication and comfort,” but based on our experience, the hotel should focus on improving existing standards before chasing lofty visions.

I asked about room service but told they might be too busy so I came down to eat and it was so busy that it was uncomfortable. I asked to change the fries with steak to the truffle fries and was given both and charged in full for a full extra fries when I only wanted one! The menu said the crumble was gluten free but then told that it wasn’t. Room quite noisy.

We stayed overnight with friends. Food and drinks are lovely, very tasty and well priced. Rooms feel dated, light fixture was full of cobwebs, bed was incredibly uncomfortable and cheap and we were awoken at 7am by workmen outside the window drilling and hammering.
