Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel

Room was good. Gym had no air con. Changing rooms were very basic. Pool was dirty. Hot tub and sauna were not working. Hotel looked tired and in need of refurbishment. Staff were reasonably helpful

Rooms were clean. The mattress wasn't the best, it was very uncomfortable. Shower in the bathroom wasn't ideal. No hose shower and the water temperature wasn't stable. Staff when you saw them were helpful but the wait to check in wasn't ideal. The walls in the rooms are so thin I could hear other guest from the rooms around me. Breakfast wasn't hot.

The room was ok - would have been better if the aircon was more efficient, if the shower gel bottle had been refilled but most importantly if it hadn’t smelled of stale smoke

The air con was broken and no maintenance to fix. The staff were helpful and provided a free breakfast as compensation. Generally the hotel was run down. Definitely not a 4 star hotel

The car park has a pretty steep staircase and anyone with feet bigger than size 5 would have to ascend and descend them adopting a penguin stance! The steps are awkwardly steep, not very wide and not very deep! The main entrance to the hotel didn’t appear to have a visible access point if you are carrying luggage or a baby buggy - requiring you to take a number of steps. The room was substandard - the door hinges creaked massively and housekeeping would be aware yet nothing done. Similarly, the shower and sink clogged up - housekeeping would be aware if water from the faucet is used to clean the spaces! When we headed to breakfast we gave our room number and proceeded to sit down. We then went to get breakfast and returned back. Upon getting up a second time to get hot drinks, the same staff member rushed over to me to ask my room number again, I can understand she may have forgotten if she checked with me, but the manner in which she leapt towards me made me feel as if she suspected I had come for a breakfast freebie! None of the breakfast items were labelled such as hot breakfast items and the as for the croissants, they ran out a few times within a few minutes which suggests they didn’t know how to replenish properly! Overall the hotel looks tried, with poor lighting in the corridors and is crying out for a face lift, A 4 star rated hotel based on the cost of staying and perceived amenities, but a 1-2 star rating based on the actual experience!

The staff are amazing Amani and Marienne are ever so helpful with a lovely human touch The kitchen staff are also very friendly

Original room felt unclean due to the number of stains on the carpet and curtains. I did ask to be moved and was given a different room that was better. The pool is down some steep stairs, but as the changing rooms are at the top, the stairs were soaking and quite slippy. The sauna and jacuzzi were out of use and there was a lot of sand in and around the jacuzzi. Breakfast on day one was good, but on day two a lot had run out and we were advised that there would be no further replenishment despite there still being around 45 mins left of the sitting. Overall, it was ok, but two nights cost nearly £360 so I had higher expectations.

Small rooms but clean. Food was not the best. Happy hour is every day and good prices.

Staff were lovely, room was quiet and the bed was comfy. Nice bar area too.

Honestly three stars is enough. Staff seem genuinely under siege from aggressive management witnessed managers making things worse while bombing around the building full of importance. One manager was so wound up she snapped at my wife for ordering coffee They clearly don't enjoy their job which is fine The hotel is clean and modern just don't expect anyone to say hello

The heating was broke and we could not get it to work. The staff were unhelpful or just wasn’t there to help. Room was so stuffy and we could not breathe.

Great hotel

There was a £50 deposit on arrival which had not been mentioned anywhere else so was a shock to have to pay this on arrival. Staff were helpful, some of the stuff was a bit dated & shabby. Room was clean & well stocked. Pleasant enough stay.

Hotel is old and tired, staff are ok but obviously couldn't really care. Restaurant offers food at greatly reduced prices but this is obviously because you would only use it once. Food is pre-prepared and just reheated, Breakfast is terrible - usual pre cooked vaguely warm rubbish. Find somewhere else to stay

Rooms not as big as the pics. Drainage in sink and shower poor. Toilet leaked and it’s pretty noisy. Not sure how it has 4 stars. 2 tops

Noisy, no good noise separation between Hotel rooms, my room had a door leading to another room and it was not locked as I would have expected.

Great room, clean (albeit smelled a bit musty, probably from an old hoover!) but bedding, bathroom - all other facilities were spotless. Bed was comfy, especially if you like a softer bed. TV was even on a movable bracket - always useful. Would certainly stay again given its location to the city too.

Great stay for the 2026 EIHL playoff weekend. Good location, reasonable price and quiet room. What’s not to love?!

The staff were friendly and the amenities including the pool were great. However, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were so unsupported meaning it was difficult to sleep each night. Also, during breakfast the drinks and some foods were always empty meaning you’d have to ask and wait for contents to be refilled/ replenished. There was also a private event going on which meant the bar inside the hotel couldn’t be used.
