Lets start with a positive, the majority of the staff were amazing, really friendly and very helpful. Our check-in went without a hitch and the reception team were full of local knowledge. Our room was nothing like in the pictures, very small and basic. It definitely needed some work done to it and a proper clean wouldn't go amiss. The bed was comfortable and clean. The reviews about noise are so true. There are rotting single glazed sash windows, so the noise (and cold air) hits as soon as you open the curtains. The walls, floors and ceilings are also very thin, so we could hear everything from the rooms surrounding us. The shower was super powerful and we had very hot water at all times. We weren't given any info about the pool, gym and spa area. Again it could do with some redecorating, but the gym was good for a basic work out, the sauna and steam room were great and the pool was ok, but quite cold for my liking. The restaurant area is not very big, so we had to wait in a queuing system for 30mins before breakfast. The coffee machine wasn't working and we were charged for coffee, which I really didn't agree with after paying for breakfast. The pastries were delicious, but the cooked breakfast was dry and only warm as it was on the buffet. I order vegan bacon and sausages which they apparently cook fresh. The sausages arrived cold and very dry, and they said they don't serve the bacon, but the receptionist was raving about it the night before!

Carpets and furniture in room looked in dire need of updating (wooden surfaces were scuffed on all furniture and fabric on armchairs was stained). Curtains were thick, but not wide enough to keep our the glare of the streetlight outside our room. No thermostat on radiator so it felt like the 12th circle of hell in the room and not suitable for menopausal people (avoid room 104 if you do have hot flushes )! Window frames warped. Small stains on bed linen. Mattress and pillows weren't the most comfortable so we had a bad night's sleep.

Basic room which looked very tired. The headboard was dusty, the basin was cracked and the hot tap needed attention. These things were mentioned when we left as they didn't detract too much from our stay. For a cheap overnight stay it was fine, the towels and bedding were clean and fresh and the bed was so comfortable.

It was ok, the staff are really nice. Unfortunately the shower grout was disgustingly orange.. it doesn’t take much to clean that properly. The bed was lumpy, hard and uncomfortable, I have a bad back now. The road noise from the window was loud. The hotel’s fire alarm woke me up at 8am, apparently this is because someone left their bathroom door open when they showered and that set it off. Not the best way to wake up, but it sure got me out of bed. 😵 Probably should have booked the Travelodge as atleast you know you’re going to sleep well
