The Alverton

Stayed at The Alverton and was impressed by the friendliness from the staff, grandure of the buildings and overall service. I found the quality of furniture in the room let it down slightly. The breakfast was variable.

Staff welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms very comfortable. It was a lovely place to stay. The bar is a great chill area outside overlooking the blossoms and grounds. I would definitely recommend. We staying in a suite in the Courtyard.

Tranquility of location within the city area

Old school hotel with old school values. Enthusiastic waiting staff not communicating with each other very well on food orders. Prices at top end of 4 star hotel rates. Last minute booking at £50 of £180 off saw us in a very stuffy small room with poor airflow. Ceiling vents/extraction ineffective in toilet and bedroom. Small fridge in the wardrobe with a bottle of water in it…. No mini bar Courtyard lights on ALL night meant high light pollution into room. Leaning toward events and weddings as a money earner. Clean generally but is showing its age as expected. Good parking available and a few minutes from town centre. Nothing else much there as facilities so no gym, no pool, and no facility to do anything but eat and sleep.

We have enjoyed our stay v. much. Fortunately, we were able to walk up the steep stairs to our room, but this could be difficult for others less able. A sash on one of the windows was broken, so I did mention it. The food and service was excellent in the lovely restaurant. Staff very friendly and efficient. Thank you for such a delightful stay. Beautiful hotel dith friendly staff

Lovely hotel. Wonderful staff. Food was excellent. Can’t complaint. Beautiful setting. Hopefully I’ll be back again some time in the future.

Characterful...

great location but stairs carpets worn and need replacement

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in a courtyard double and it was a perfectly lovely room. I wasn't a huge fan of the feature wall paper but it was all beautifully done and well maintained. The overbath shower had excellent water pressure which was so nice. My only negative would be that the coffee cups dont fit the coffee machine so we had to hold them at a jaunty angle to be filled. Breakfast was a well oiled machine. The staff were attentive and service was slick and professional. Our breakfast was very tasty indeed.

Near to town but very quiet.

Impressive building as a converted convent. Was quite away from the train station, and a bit of a walk from the city centre. Like many English hotels, the plumbing was marginal.

Excellent value for money. Impressive building with lots of history. Nice relaxed breakfast with helpful staff.

Lovely property in a great location with fantastic history. The welcome and attention by the staff was excellent. However, the suite we had was pleasant enough but was, in our opinion, rather poorly furnished and set out. It didn't spoil our stay but it could have been more comfortable.

Great location

The building is exceptionally beautiful, the reception staff were friendly, the room was amazing, i loved the dual old style windows and the bathroom with a shower and a bath was great and super clean! Only two issues, the washer/tumble dryer was going for most of the night which made it a bit difficult to sleep, it then started up again very early!

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Alverton. Everything about the stay was perfect. Staff were helpful and friendly. Premises were stunning. Food was excellent. In particular the hotel went 'above and beyond' when we initially had to change our plans. We will definitely stay again when we return to Truro.
