Good value for a solo traveler. Friendly staff. Rooms nice enough. Lots of noise between rooms and the pub. Didn't bother me, but light sleepers might struggle.

The hotel is in the ‘Clean Air Zone’. There was no mention of this inside the hotel, nor did ANY staff mention it. A simple word to go online to enter my car registration would have cost me £8 p/day. Instead, a month later, just before my son’s 16th birthday, I received THREE £60 late payment fines. If not paid within 12 days, each would DOUBLE. I had no choice but to pay. I called Birmingham City Council and was on hold for an hour, only to be told that they couldn’t deal with it and they put me through to another number which CUT ME OFF. I was in Birmingham for my uncle’s funeral. I arrived Thursday, the funeral was Friday and I left Saturday morning. Hence, 3 fines. The hotel is in a very bad area. There is a large derelict building opposite that has broken windows and graffiti all over. We walked to a local convenience store only to be approached by young foreign men that were bothering us. The car park is tiny but always got the last space. The room had a long corridor leading to it and carpet in the corridor was old, dirty and smelled foisty. The room was above the bar which played LOUD music AFTER midnight. DID NOT SLEEP AT ALL. Could hear people snoring in other rooms. Main light in the room did not work. We had to get ready for the funeral by the bed light with NO SLEEP. There were only 2 small toilet rolls between 2 of us for Thur/Fri/Sat. Clean sheets BUT cleaning staff leave clean towels on the dirty corridor carpet outside. Best thing were the pub staff!

The room was ok for a cheap room. Reasonably clean. Unfortunately the mattress was very worn and I could feel the springs in my ribs. The bathroom smelt of sewerage and there was a reasonable amount of traffic noise which may have been unavoidable with the room being on the ground floor next to the road. Staff were helpful. Unfortunately the Chef did not arrive at work on the Monday night so I had to arrange alternative food. A shame as the menu was the reason I chose this room over others.

Pub itself was great. The staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Didn't have breakfast so can't Comment. The room was ok, bed not very comfortable. Our room was facing out on the front road it was VERY noisey both the nights we stayed. People very loud and throwing around canisters by the sound of it. Also on Saturday night there was a very loud alarm going of from 1am for quite a period of time - didn't sleep much after that. Perhaps next time if we came back would ask for a room at the back of the property.
