The Roker Hotel, BW Premier Collection

The room was clean enough ,the view from the room was great as it was at the front ,I would not have been happy if I had a room at the rear . The hotel looks like it has recently been refurbished (badly) the workmanship is dire !and done cheaply The food in the bar in the evening was a disappointment and not to our taste we had hoped for fresh fish and chips but sadly it resembled frozen fish and if the chips are to be triple cooked then try and get them crispy not soft dark brown bits of potato . The breakfast was similar only one girl serving ,we had to ask for the the fruit to be replenished ,whilst my wife enjoyed the porridge sadly my full rocker breakfast was another disappointment with the black pudding just been heated rather than cooked the bacon was full of fat ,the hash brown warm and floppy the tomato was raw and hard and to my further disappointment there was a bit of hard plastic on the tomato .that said the egg sausage and the bit of bacon without the fatwas ok ,Oh and no more covering the plates with cress . The head and base boards on the bed were very high with the mattress really close to the floor the couch was also so low that it was a struggle to get a view of the sea .

The hotel is ok, the rooms were small and compact and basic - our room looked out on the back of the hotel and had a pigeon settling in the pipe outside, so was waken up by it each morning! We ate at hotel and the server was abrupt in her attitude and we felt we were an inconvenience being there! The cleaning staff on the morning were lovely and friendly

Had room 118, bed was not comfy & felt like it was fairly loose, toilet seat also very loose. Never had an issue here before, these aren’t major things though to. E honest Staff always friendly, location is excellent Will stay again

Good value hotel, right on the seafront and a short drive into the city centre. Nice bar and restaurant facilities

Too many stairs to negotiate with heavy fire doors - a necessity I know but difficult to open with luggage and bags in hand. Bed comfortable but pillows uncomfortable at best. Staff were pleasant. Buffet breakfast was not as hot as it should have been and very little of anything.

Great location, nice bar/restaurant area & a good selection of larger & Guinness no cask on the hand pull. Rooms little dated, but for the price you can’t grumble as it’s clean & functional

The staff were nice and welcoming and the room we had was nice with a great view of the sea & pier however the bed/mattress was very uncomfortable and the extraction in the bathroom was very noisy. Unfortunately not somewhere we would stay again.

A couple of nights stay in April. We came up from London and arrived a couple of hours early, hoping to either check in early or at the very least that our bags could be held at reception, as you can in some hotels but not here. You can register your car for the car park, and the use of the bar & restaurant. Once checked into our standard room without a sea view, be prepared for a long walk and a few stairs to your room, but once in the room it is clean and well presented. Breakfast on the weekend, if you're like us and you like a slightly later breakfast, you'll be ok. The staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a stay if you're going Sunderland.

Place was quiet despite a wedding party

The hotel location is great and overlooking the sea. Staff were great, hotel looking tired in places. I had room 137 in the basement, I moved rooms as the mattress was awful. The new room 139 was ok but yet again the mattress was awful which made for a poor night's sleep. There was also an awful noise at various times of water tanks or something filling up. At nearly £200 for two nights I would expect far better.
