Turing Locke Cambridge

Awful experience and worse customers service. During 30 + degree heat, the air conditioning in the rooms want working. It was in the corridor and reception, but not in the rooms. When I raised it with reception they kindly told me I could check out! To add insult to injury, from 7.30am they had renovations in progress, so after a hit sleepless night, the room was vibrating too powertools. Talk to reception again and was offered partial refund, but as yet, that hasn't materialised. Really regret booking this hotel for my extended stay in Cambridge when most of the other hotels in Cambridge have been excellent.

The room was a great space and the reason we booked was for the use of the kitchen. When we arrived the last customers breakfast was still in the oven, the hotel staff were very apologetic and sorted quickly. The air con wasn't working (30 degree heat outside) and we had 1 fab for the room. We requested another but had to ask again for this. Staff were always pleasant and friendly. As previously mentioned the kitchen was a selling point for our stay. It would be helpful if washing up liquid was provided or a dishwasher tab so that dishes could be cleaned. Regular tea bags in the welcome pack would also be welcome. We used the nearby park and ride (18hours free parking) rather than the hotels £20 a day parking. Overall, good space, comfy beds but a few too many niggles considering the price.

Worse experience ever! Towels were dirty.. AC did not work.. TV did not work. Customer service and check in was a horrible experience. Did not stay a single night - had to get another hotel. Still waiting on a refund

This is listed as a hotel and is more like a serviced apartment. Your bedrooms are not cleaned daily. You do not have any benefits of a hotel. It was the warmest weather in the UK the weekend I stayed and conveniently the AC was only working in the reception. None of the rooms had AC working. We was offered a measley small table fan that was blowing warm heat. When I asked for a second fan I was refused as only one per a room. I explained the heat is a danger to human health suffering from health conditions and just laughed at.

We received an email asking us to book parking, which we did, but were told that it was first come first serve when we got there. Not a great start. Then the air conditioner did not work and failed to do so for the whole of our stay. There was also no remote for the tv. We eventually got one after a number of requests. The place is nice enough but I wouldn’t use it again.

The hotel is nice / functional but the air conditioning wasn’t working and the room was stifling hot with a window that could only open a couple of centimetres. We reported the air conditioning fault and they offered to reset which didn’t work. When we told them it still wasn’t working they offered 30% discount and said they couldn’t fix until Monday (we were only there one night Sat - Sun). At check out, after an uncomfortable night, I mentioned it again and they said the whole hotel was affected and it had been a problem for a couple of days and they didn’t know how to fix. Therefore I’m not sure why they didn’t tell me this initially when I first raised the issue. Therefore whilst I recognise problems do occur, I think the staff handling of the situation was poor, with poor communications and 30% discount doesn’t cover a night of disrupted sleep.

Aircon was broken on the hottest week, which is fairenough and out of their control, However the communication of this was poor, When i checked in, had an issue with the TV so went to the desk to have a receptionist check out the tv, I asked about the Aircon and she promised that she would reset the aircon, implying that would fix it. I then asked for a fan when it was clear this wasnt going to work first on the whatsapp group when i got one reply saying they would look into it for me and confirm shortly. There was no reply for over an hour until i went down to the front desk to ask in person. to the reply of "we dont have any fans left". i was then promised i would get a fan in the morning before i got back from work. i return to the room after work to no fan. i then asked the front desk where my fan is, to the same reply of "we have no fans". which is understandable but to lie and fail to communicate this after the night before being promised a fan. If i knew the night before i would not get a fan i would of ordered my own one on Amazon for next day delivery (questionable why the hotel couldnt do this as the rooms were frequently at around 30 degrees inside). It was a frustrating, uncomfortable and poorly communicative stay.

Very nice place to stay

The staff were professional and welcoming. Madelyn (manager) was particularly helpful after a stressful experience at the sister property. The woman on night reception was patient and a great communicator. Kai went above an beyond to help me with my return booking to the sister property. He called ahead to ensure a smooth transition and helped me with the door. He managed my issue and took deliveries effortlessly. I am not a fan of the studio so probably won't return. It felt dated, a bit claustrophobic and there was a persistent smell - even with the windows open.

It's a strange place. Part apart’otel, part WeWork, part self catering. Seems to connect with a Hyatt next door and not clear where one begins and the other ends. Communicating doors between some rooms means you can hear your neighbours chatting and even breathing at. Super modern but all so automated if felt like 2001 and as you know, when Hal the automated system goes wrong, well… on the some of the hottest days of the year there was no aircon and despite multiple attempts it couldbn’t be reset. Electric door keys failed twice. There is no number to ring down to reception so when something goes wrong you have to trek back to the same overworked person downstairs. And it is a long way from some of the rooms back to the desk as the place is a vast silent space ship. I’d recommend the Hyatt next door if I was sure it would be a different experience! Sheets and towels and bathroom and kitchenette and fittings all lovely though. And good value - had things worked!

Nice hotel with friendly staff. You do have to go to sister hotel next door if you want bar or restaurant/breakfast.

Great place and nice staff

Very very very nice hotel, its quite luxury for knowing nothing about the hotel in city. The parking on the other hand 20 pounds a day for parking was very very steep. I never saw anywhere where it mentioned that it cost this much. I feel the parking for this proce would have had more security like a garage door that closed.

Air conditioning did not work in the room

Excellent stay - clean and good sized room with everything you’d need for a weekend stay. About 1 hours walk from centre of Cambridge but easily accessible by a short bus journey as well. Would recommend.

Based on my two trips to Turing Locke, I don't think the company and staff can be trusted. The accommodation is advertised with certain basic services - indeed "no more sweaty nights" is on the front of the website. But when this is broken, and broken for months/years, clients are not told. I checked in on one of the hottest days in May on history. It was hotter in the next few days. But on check-in I was not told the air-conn across the hotel was broken. It was also broken 2 years ago when I stayed – the control unit gives strange messages which makes one thing it is user error – but it turns out it is centrally broken. No ability to cool (or heat), and from the reviews this has been happening for >6 months. I think 2 years given the same problem happened last time I stayed. Customers are not told the room will be too hot to sleep in before they arrive. They are not told when they check in. They need to contact reception to ask why it is so hot, at which point it is admitted the hotel is not up to the advertised standard. No offer of help to make it less unpleasant, no offer of fans or ice or ... anything. Full price costs for a room so hot it is not clearly safe (especially for small children and the elderly). On check out I was asked "how was your stay". I said "well of course, it as far too hot". Reception said "yes, but other than that has was your stay". This was indication the staff don't care about how 6 nights of poor to no sleep impacts a person on a work trip!

Early checkin was an awful experience, we called ahead and confirmed we would like to book early checkin, we were told we could arrive at 2pm. When we arrived there was no sign of early checkin and we were told they can clean a room but they had no idea how long it would take. When returning at 3:30pm we got our room and had to pay full early checkin price. The garden terrace was overgrown and we could barely open the door. The weed smokers in the open courtyard at night ruined the experience of sitting in a peace. The space was nice, but there were signs of a lot of water damage.
