The room was a little tired but this was to be expected at Stafford's oldest inn! The food was good, as was breakfast. However, it was the staff who made the stay memorable. Both ladies were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us, even holding our baby for a while when we ate dinner so we could use both our hands! We would happily stay here again.

Although the room was clean, the bathroom needed attention. Stained toilet and bath. Obviously quite dated. No communication with the staff apart from checking in. We were literally just left to it. No one asked how our stay was on checking out which I found disappointing.

Bathroom had mold on the tiles in the shower. Did not appreciate the door knocking around 8.30 am and the manager stating that the room we were checked into is showing as empty and stating that she would check that we should be in there. Quite bizarre. Disappointing stay

Spacious comfortable room. If you struggle with stairs make sure to try get a ground floor one a the stairs are steep and narrow wirh awkward doors. Car park is good but it's first come first serve and there are no spaces reserved for blue badge users. Staff were very busy last weekend before christmas, which nay account for some short exchanges. Excellent location.

Told breakfast would be around 30 minute wait at 8am, wouldn't accommodate a simple request to have bacon and sausage sandwich to takeaway on 2nd day. I wouldn't stop here again. My last 2 night stay was great with mo issues

Staff were very efficient and helpful. Check in process very quick and although we arrived very early there were no issues. The room was clean and tidy , but due to its age floors and stairs could be a bit creaky. However what would you expect from the oldest pub in Stafford. Good value and would book again.

The staff we're helpful and friendly and well-meaning. The inn is very traditional and a bit of a maze to get around. The bedroom was well proportioned and clean, if a little tired. The mattress was a little soft for me, but comfortable enough. The bathroom left a little to be desired, with standing water stains in the bottom of the bath and around the toilet. There was also a used towel left hanging over the shower rail. My dinner order didn't go through to the kitchen and by the time we spotted it, the chef had gone home for the evening. The staff were really apologetic, however, and refunded the cost with no fuss and comped me a drink. All in all, it was fine for a nights stay on business.

Good food, the eveing meal i had a steak and it was brilliant. Overall Great food, amazing staff, really like the place. However with the building being older at night you can hear every step people make above you. So if you are a light sleeper this may be an issue. Although a pub after 2330ish it was generally pretty quiet.
