From start to finish this was a cut above. I arrived early but was still able to access the car park and when staff heard I'd travelled a long way I was offered a reviving cup of coffee. The menu looked great (as did the beers on offer) but as I was attending an all day event I didn't get to try the Wykeham Pie. I did have breakfast which was excellent and extremely good value. My single room was comfortable, clean and perfect for a short stay. Staff were always on hand and incredibly helpful. The atmosphere was welcoming, friendly and the memorabilia in the bars fascinating. As for the loo......a work of art. Without any hesitation I would come back and highly recommend. Hospitality at its best.

The wykeham is ideally placed for exploring Winchester its only a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral and the city centre. The staff were friendly and approachable at all times. Our room Kelsey was large and comfortable with a good shower. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.

Lunch was wildly expensive but breakfast was good. It would have been helpful to know we were on the 3rd floor no elevators and tiny circular stairs. For those with some mobility challenges it’s a hike!

Charming pub with lots of character. Stayed in the luxury double which was very comfortable with a lovely roll top bath and a shower with good power. Nice touch of homemade shortbread and a plentiful selection of tea and coffee in the room. The food in the restaurant was also delicious. Great place to stay for exploring Winchester

I booked a single room as I was travelling solo and only staying for 1 night. Check in is in The Wykeham Arms itself and then I was shown across the street to my accommodation. I was on the top floor in a room named La Boite - something to consider if you have suitcases with you, it’s an old building with narrow, steep stairs. My room was perfect for a solo traveler - very comfy single bed, bathroom equipped with full sizes of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash, hand lotion. Room amenities were a Nespresso machine with selection of coffee pods, coffee mug, kettle with selection of teas, tea cup/saucer, a fridge with fresh milk (no UHT rubbish here!) a big bottle of water and a full size Fullers London Pride (plus bottle opener) a dish of freshly made shortbread, TV, ironing board, hanging space, bedside radio. The windows had both blinds and curtains (as a light sleeper this was very much appreciated). An info folder contained lots of useful information if you don’t know Winchester, dinner and breakfast menus. I had a table booked for a group dinner (11 of us) which was in its own room, we were very well looked after, food was incredible (chef Luke Emmes is a very talented man) and the wine list extensive. The pub itself has a lovely, welcoming feel and is dog friendly. We all had a great evening. Breakfast is back in the restaurant area and again the food was delicious, good buffet or hot menu cooked to order. All the staff were lovely, I’d definitely stay again.

A characterful property. My single room was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The staff were helpful and very efficient. The breakfast choices were abundant; continental, cereals as well as full breakfast etc. The location was ideal with a short walk to the cathedral and shops. My stay was faultless. Whilst there is free carparking, it is quite a squeeze.

Top class location with easy and picturesque walk to high street via cathedral. Friendly, courteous staff. Characterful clean room with excellent welcome freebies ( bottle of beer, sweet treats). Fridge in the room with real milk and chilled water. A very characterful bar & dining room in the pub which was clearly very popular with locals too. Slight downsides: not great privacy of ensuite facilities from bedroom, slightly over-priced evening meal even for Winchester, some early morning street noise from delivery lorries. None of this spoiled an excellent stay.

My husband and I stayed in the Garden Suite and thought it was absolutely lovely. Although the room isn’t located within the pub itself, it sits just across the road, tucked away behind the building, which made it wonderfully quiet and very private. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we were delighted to find that the suite included its own lounge and a gorgeous bathroom on the ground floor, with stairs leading up to the main bedroom. The staff were fantastic throughout our stay. When we arrived, there had been a heavy downpour and, because the window had been left open for ventilation, the carpet and bed linen had unfortunately become wet. The team responded immediately, resolved the issue quickly, and even offered us a complimentary bottle of wine as an apology. Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked with high‑quality ingredients. The Wykeham Arms is perfectly situated in the heart of Winchester, making it easy to explore the city on foot. All in all, a five‑star stay. We’ll definitely be returning.
